Confess Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 As many of you are still aware, the directory servers are still offline. I think that I have discovered why. All of the forwarding directories have died, thus making everything appear offline unless you are connected to one of these 3. How to fix it:1. Open your server.ini2. Scroll to the bottom and look for [Directory]3. Find IP=4. Change IP= to IP=sscentral.sscuservers.net,ssdir.playsubspace.com,zones.sscentral.com5. Save.6. Upload.7. Recycle. The affected zones appear to be the following, but are not limited too:SSCU Death Star BattleSSCC Metal Gear CTFSSCX PowerballSSCC Desert StormSSCE Hockey Zone ~ FixedSSCB Redstar ~ FixedSSCB Mystic Kingdom ~ FixedSSCT Super Fortress ~ FixedSSCT Witch Doom ~ FixedCSSS USD AnnihilationSSDC Zones.SSEO Zones.PSSF Zones.~~~~~~~~~ Let me know if this works for you.
PoLiX Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 ds98, ssnet, edome, and sshq are all dead....
»Blocks Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 As a side note, I don't think you have to recycle the zone to have it update the directory listing. Subgame should re-read the file a few minutes after you change it. Makes it a bit more convenient to fix. Tell me if I'm wrong though.
L.C. Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Subgame should re-read the file a few minutes after you change it.Usually about 60 seconds later.
»SOS Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Idiot zone sysops not doing their jobs... Stickied (although I'm not sure if any relevant people visit this place). I assume the dir server list up top is correct?
Dav Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 DS is done. hope this one has all zones on it soon.
PoLiX Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Saw Ghost Ship lookin at this last night, so maybe something might get spread.
»Maverick Posted November 5, 2006 Report Posted November 5, 2006 Does sscentral have a directory server now aswell?EDIT: Noticed it in another topic
Smong Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 I'm not sure if this is working, because I put Pirates! on sscentral.sscuservers.net yesterday and it's still not on their list.
PoLiX Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 yeah, I told Confess it's not working for all zones. So his theory, although a good one that worked for some, turned out not to be the true problem.
Confess Posted November 6, 2006 Author Report Posted November 6, 2006 It works for the majority of us, so that leads me to believe someone is doing it wrong. Come talk to me, and we can try and fix it together.
The Apache Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 well, your instructions are very simple enough to follow really. and if Smong can't do it, it means he isn't doing something wrong - it just doesn't work for other zones.
Smong Posted November 6, 2006 Report Posted November 6, 2006 Pirates! is on now, I think what happened is I changed the settings and reloaded the module before the settings were re-read.
