ATTENTION: All Zone Owners

[Confess]

As many of you are still aware, the directory servers are still offline. I think that I have discovered why. All of the forwarding directories have died, thus making everything appear offline unless you are connected to one of these 3.

 

How to fix it:

1. Open your server.ini

2. Scroll to the bottom and look for [Directory]

3. Find IP=

4. Change IP= to IP=sscentral.sscuservers.net,ssdir.playsubspace.com,zones.ss

central.com

5. Save.

6. Upload.

7. Recycle.

 

The affected zones appear to be the following, but are not limited too:

SSCU Death Star Battle

SSCC Metal Gear CTF

SSCX Powerball

SSCC Desert Storm

SSCE Hockey Zone ~ Fixed

SSCB Redstar ~ Fixed

SSCB Mystic Kingdom ~ Fixed

SSCT Super Fortress ~ Fixed

SSCT Witch Doom ~ Fixed

CSSS USD Annihilation

SSDC Zones.

SSEO Zones.

PSSF Zones.

As a side note, I don't think you have to recycle the zone to have it update the directory listing. Subgame should re-read the file a few minutes after you change it. Makes it a bit more convenient to fix. Tell me if I'm wrong though.

I'm not sure if this is working, because I put Pirates! on sscentral.sscuservers.net yesterday and it's still not on their list.

yeah, I told Confess it's not working for all zones.

 

So his theory, although a good one that worked for some, turned out not to be the true problem.

It works for the majority of us, so that leads me to believe someone is doing it wrong. Come talk to me, and we can try and fix it together.

well, your instructions are very simple enough to follow really. and if Smong can't do it, it means he isn't doing something wrong - it just doesn't work for other zones.

Pirates! is on now, I think what happened is I changed the settings and reloaded the module before the settings were re-read.
