»Maverick Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 I'm noticing alot of topics in General Discussion are going towards trash which is currently primarily caused by Graviton and SyrusMX. What are we going to do with this? (Not saying that someone specific should be dealt with, only asking what the policy is going to be)- Split the topics each time and move the bad part to trash talk? That would really fragment alot.- Move the whole topic to trash talk? Then we would be moving a big part of general discussion to trash talk.- Leave it all at general discussion? Then general discussion is maybe moving towards a trash talk forum. Maybe you guys already know then please let me know aswell P.S. Can we ditch that forum 'God Only Knows' please?

The topics I flame/trash in were trash to begin with and never should have been posted in general. If anything, I'm just giving you more of a reason to move the thread to it's proper forum. And to compare me to Grav is a great insult. I hope a terrorist fly's a plane into your house. And I did more for this forum and sscentral behind the sences with updates, requests and management than you ever did Mav. So before you go playing the "holier than thou" role, do me a favor and shove it. You quit, so do us a favor and follow though with what you've claimed. You cannot let some !@#$%^&*holes hijack topics so moving topics is out. Joining TT and General is a valid option and I might even prefer that. Splitting the crap is also fine but I wouldn't bother. This also gives the impression to spammers that they can spam as long as it is not very much - not enough to get a new topic made. Deletion of crap. That's what I'd do if I were a general moderator. Which I am not
»SD>Big Posted October 29, 2006 Report Posted October 29, 2006 i honestly think the best situation is to have a general discussion with a trash talk as a sub forum... there simply aren't enough new topic in general to split up with other discussion. if that system is implemented, only the super flame topics and overly stupid ones would be moved there. the more active topics in general, the better for the forum, i think.

(Also making it unable for him to navigate to the trash talk forum.) As much as I agree with this restriction, he has now lesser permissions then a guest. Can he be given view permissions on all the forum like any other guest but only posting/reply permissions in trash talk? See attachment what Gravitron currently can see. Notice that clicking on 'General' gives him a permission denied error.

»Maverick Posted November 2, 2006 Author Report Posted November 2, 2006 I don't agree with that idea, Dav. It makes the forum too much moderated and static. People will be afraid or hesitate to post. The spam forum is fine, it works and the whole forum is more active because of it.

Someone else that didn't delete the topic knows nothing about what happened.Locking is putting a restriction to where and what people can post. Nobody likes that. If the topic resides in trash talk who cares if it's 100% flaming? You don't need to read it. I believe in freedom of speech but ofcourse something should be done against spam/flame topics in general discussion. One of the reasons why I like MGB's forum so much - it's almost not moderated because % of all discussions live under "Trash Talk".
