Zaphena Posted October 17, 2006 Report Posted October 17, 2006 A few weeks ago, I started having S2C packet loss, which prevented me from JDing because it was too high. I have no idea why this happens, I used have around 110ms ping and 0.1 0.1 all the time and it just suddenly changed Tracing Zone: SSCU Trench Wars IP Address: 66.36.241.110 Hop IP Address Host Name Loss(%) Min/Avg/Max Ping--- --------------- -------------------------------- ------- ---------------- 1 192.168.1.1 0.0 0 0 0 2 217.47.108.250 0.0 10 10 40 3 217.47.109.161 99.0 10 10 10 4 217.41.173.29 0.0 10 10 20 5 217.41.173.126 0.0 10 10 30 6 217.41.173.62 0.0 10 10 10 7 217.47.109.113 99.0 10 10 10 8 194.72.2.185 londonc-access3-s27.ukcore.bt.ne 0.0 10 10 10 9 62.6.204.205 core2-pos4-1.ealing.ukcore.bt.ne 0.0 10 10 20 10 62.6.200.42 transit1-pos13-2.ealing.ukcore.b 0.0 10 10 20 11 166.49.168.1 t2c1-p8-0.uk-eal.eu.bt.net 0.0 10 10 20 12 166.49.164.110 t2c1-p4-0.us-ash.eu.bt.net 0.0 120 130 150 13 ... ... 0.0 1000000 0 0 14 ... ... 0.0 1000000 0 0 Cycles: 101
★ SOS Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Trace looks fine. No packetloss there. S2C indicates a problem with data reaching your computer. The possible causes are:1) you are downloading a lot2) someone else on the same lan is downloading a lot3) your network card has crapped out and is dying(4) your router is messed up5) your ISP has a badly working router)
NBVegita Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Is it steady, or up and down? I've sometimes seen having spyware or the like on your computer can cause issue like that. Or you have too many system resources used, or badly need a defrag. Those are just quick tries to help your connectivity.

Also there is another computer on my lan, but it's hardly used to it's not that. I'm not sure about the other 3, but I never touch the stuff on the back of my computer or my router. Oh and today it seems much better, normally the S2C goes above 1 or w percent, now it stays below 1%.
★ SOS Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 It could also be random network disturbance. It happens. Can take up to a month or two to go away. I once had 25% loss for 3 months
