Drake7707 Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Someone finish these already . I used the lancaster model render this with my raytracer (which FINALLY has spatial subdivision and instancing working) There are no textures because they are in stealth mode, not because I still have to make a .3ds file import that includes textures (and I don't know how that works in wavefront .obj), nosirreee.. *ahem* Quote
Samapico Posted October 28, 2010 Report Posted October 28, 2010 Holy shit that's ugly j/k it's awesome Quote

»jabjabjab Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Okay guys, I Think we can finally come down to a conclusion for this entire topic, and it's span of 5+ years. I have decided to finish this lost-and-find project once and for all, (involving contact with the artist himself, electrically, and phone)He could not find the ships, or any source art relevating to this game, or the sister games. Sucks, but finally can conclude this. Quote
Arry Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I have been tossing around the idea in my head to start a monetary prize fund for those who complete specific projects that benefit the entire subspace community. People could donate to the prize fund to help encourage the project to get done... or done faster. I would set it up through paypal and people could donate that way. Getting high quality 3d models of all 8 default ships seemed like a good project to start with. I was thinking about starting the prize fund with $50-$100 of my own money for this project. Not sure how to handle multiple people working towards the same goal... maybe divide the prize money between the top three entries (with the majority going to first place). Of course if I do that, I'll probably have to set a deadline for submissions. What do you all think about this idea? Quote
Cheese Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 trench wars has already set up that system and they have already accumulated thousands of dollarsproblem is they have nothing to spend it on http://trenchwars.net/donationsoverview/http://trenchwars.net/donationdetails/ Quote
PsyOps Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) Seems like that's only for trench wars. If something were to be setup for the ship models in specific, i would also donate. How much would depend on when we get this started. If we do decide to move on with this i suggest you hit all popular 3D Forum/sites. Check out which are the best ones and then post there once we iron out the details. With the video and the image files that we have of the rotating ships, I am sure that recreating them will be no problem for some of these people. We also need to agree that these images will be shared within the SS community. I have a ton of things i would like to do with them myself. - PsyOps Edited April 6, 2011 by PsyOps Quote
»jabjabjab Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 They just wont be the real ships... Make sure they still feel classy, but present with current day's 3D feel to it. Quote
PsyOps Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 (edited) I agree, maybe we can give them all the resources we have now detailing what the ships look like and give them instructions on what we expect. If we put up enough money this will be a contract, a job. I'm sure we will get back good results. Edited April 7, 2011 by PsyOps Quote
aquarius Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Jab, if you have established contact with the creator of the original ships...have you asked him how much he would charge to simply make them AGAIN - with today's standards? He would be the man for the job. He would be able to give us exactly what we want without having to instruct him. Quote
