Gannon8 Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) ...I'm gonna take a break from modeling and start fixing my zone. Trying to get sqlite on ASSS working. It will not connect to my mysql database Plus Snrrrub would want it. Apparently I suck at memory management with C. Would write it in python, but I wanted a more drop-in type of replacement, plus I have no idea how to make the callbacks/structs work with pymod. Edited August 5, 2009 by Gannon8 Quote
»jabjabjab Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 Ehh well I'm basically on standby until any shipsets are released with new models. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) Did some work on the lanc.Lancaster.zipTextures.zip Edited August 7, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote
»jabjabjab Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 (edited) Redid the engines entirely.. Also going to redo the textures entirely soon. Also tried to recreate the textures from the origional by doing them on a flat map or w/e. also here's the blender of the model without texture.Lanc.zip Edited August 8, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote
Diwa Posted August 9, 2009 Report Posted August 9, 2009 (edited) Okay... well... I haven't touched my Warbird model in a long time. And I went to play around with it today, and HATED IT! I'm going to try and re-model it using Sub-D. Hopefully I can do it the way I want. I dunno. Maybe I won't, and be done with it That being said, I'm just releasing my model into the wild, **AS-IS**. If you want to use it, go ahead, credit me if you do use the model. But if you want any mods or need to get it rendering, or whatever, it is up to you... None of the texture files have been optimized (they are still in photoshop .psd format) and the model is split up into about a*million different parts. Don't ask me about the model, I probably wont help you... I think it's in .max format. I *think* blender opens that format. [attachment removed. see later posts for another] Have fun. »jabjabjab Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 (edited) It doesnt but people make plug-in's.. *searches* There is no plug-in that supports .max so I can't open it. :/. I can open .OBJ tho or .3DS Edited August 10, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote

Gannon8 Posted August 10, 2009 Report Posted August 10, 2009 Did some work on the lanc.OK I suck at making engines. Lemme use yours On the brighter note, I FINALLY figured out how to UV unwrap. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) Attempting Nightwasp. So far so good. Progress: http://i559.photobucket.com/albums/ss31/XDreamersMS/Nightwasp-2.png Here is also the model of the nightwasp. Also, Diwa is there anyway you could make the textures? I can apply them but I really love your textures.. they are the best.NightWasp.zip Edited August 11, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote
Gannon8 Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) here's the model. The purple thing on the engines keep on appearing inside-out when I export them as .obj files. And it has a ton of verts.I'll probably recreate it in wings3D. BTW Gj with the Nightwasp, but the front looks kinda big for a spaceship. I kinda like Diwa's design better. »jabjabjab Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Ill see what I could do to slim it out. Like i said (if i did here) it's still early in stage. I did use alot of verts on the engine but only to keep it's slick and curved appeal like the high res picture of VIE's lancaster. Also, I say keep the textures dark because the model in-game is much darker than the high res one if you did not notice yet. I also think stickers are unimportant, though they are easy to mimick on a flat image like the one i did for the lancaster's center. Quote
Drake7707 Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 make sure the normals are outwards on the wings, if the normal is not specified, wavefront objects use a right handed base system to determine the normals (using a cross product of the 1st & 2nd vertex) Quote
Gannon8 Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) Fixed it by importing them separately and scaling them by negative 100 percent. I'll add them to the lanc =) Edit: Here is a screenshot Edited August 11, 2009 by Gannon8 Quote
»jabjabjab Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) Uhhh woot? Release your Weasel that's what I want at this time. & Diwa, your gona need to export the object into a different format.. .Max is a closed format for autodesk only. Sorry :/ Edit: oh and btw the thing about the cockpit.. if you look at the lancaster's cockpit on the VIE picture, the black does not extend the full part of the skewed cylinder or w/e. you used to make it. it has cut-offs. Also export your current lanc model so I can do more Acurate work on the textures. Edited August 12, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote
Sann Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Those are FREAKING FANTASTIC! VERY VERY VERY VERY GREAT JOB!!! I don't know how you guys are making all these 3D ships and all, but whenever I try to attempt to draw SS ships they all turn out to be like this: http://www.chun-san.com/ssad.jpg(Sorry didn't mean to advertise, but this is seriously the best I can come up with >_<) Quote

Gannon8 Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 Double post again. Sorry mods Made some new engines that resemble Jab's engine. The other one had too many verticies for my little laptop (I really need a new one ) and the sides didn't really fit well with my wings. Quote
»jabjabjab Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) The engines are too tall. the bars ontop of the purple need to be pushed alittle forward. There also needs to be bars at the front side of the engine too (1). I didnt make the engine design, it came from the original VIE high-def picture. I'm just really good at replications. Thanks for the compliment though. It's okay if you double post here. It's a project and your in it. I see no harm done. Edited August 12, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote
Diwa Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 @ Jab: No... you're going to have to do your own textures. @ Gannon8 : The lanc looks good. Keep it up. I think you should clean up some of the polygons though. It's a bit messy in places. And the mesh is a little dense in some places also. Also. I exported my Warbird into a .3DS file. The only thing with that is, it doesn't export with the materials/textures applied. So, you'll either have to re-texture it yourself, or fingure out a way to re-apply my textures back onto it. The UVW coord files are still there from the .MAX file. You can try to figure out how to use those. My textures are still included in the .rar. Warbird.rar Quote

And the mesh is a little dense in some places also. Its the curved parts that jab mentioned earlier isn't it? I think I did utterly horrible with that... I should redo them, but I am not too sure what they really are supposed to look like, nor do I know how I would destroy the existing ones to make the new ones. The reason they are messy is because of that smooth command in wings Edited August 12, 2009 by Gannon8 Quote
»jabjabjab Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) Maybe you should use something different to put the finish on the model once your done with it. Blender has good smoothing tools or just "smooth object" will make it look alot better. Can you release your weasel yet? I'd like to play with it. Edited August 12, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote

Yeah, but I still cannot figure out Blender. =/Wings actually lacks some features, like aligning and a fillet command... Looking into a software called "trueSpace" (subspace, truespace, subversion ) Can you release your weasel yet? I'd like to play with it.Sure. Also fixed lanc. Pic attached.Weasel.zip Quote
