Diwa Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 (edited) Maybe it's just me. But I thought the name of the thread was '3d models of subspace ships?' It's 3D, so it's on topic Yes, it may be 3D, but, what it isn't, it isn't a subspace ship... so it isn't on topic. Unless, it only bothers me, and everybody else doesn't mind including the other stuff also...? Edited July 22, 2009 by Diwa Quote

»jabjabjab Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Looks great, but the cockpit still needs work... waiting for release (looks promissing) Quote
Samapico Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 The first 3 seconds that played before the first lag-pause seemed great.Waiting for entire video to load now. Quote
Samapico Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 TOP GUN LOLZ When the first notes of the tune came in, I came too. Quote
Corey Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Back to the models, diwa I think maybe that there should be air intakes behind the cockpit of the warbird. It would look more slick, and it would kinda make it look more stable. As for the nightwasp, white? Hmmm I say a dark orange or dark grey. Quote

The Nightwasp in my sig is white only because when I scetched it, it was on white paper It'll be dark like the original if I ever get around to actually making it. I wanted to do some sort of air intakes where the 'pod' things are, but I didn't know how when I started Maybe on the 'WarBird mk.II'... yeah right Maybe like an Indy Car style intake directly behind the cockpit... LOL. @MillenniumMan: The trailer looks pretty slick. Quote
MillenniumMan Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 Aaaaaaaaaaaand, here's some redone models for Thirdspace.I threw away my old lancaster because it looked like crap when compared to Diwa's lanc. However, I signifigantly modified the engines on it to make it more comprable to the original. Quote
Gannon8 Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 I threw away my old lancaster because it looked like crap when compared to Diwa's lanc. You mean my lanc. However, I signifigantly modified the engines on it to make it more comprable to the original.Knew someone was going to do that. Think you could gimme that model? Nice textures though! *Gets started on weasel* Offtopic: Why are the most used smileys on the bottom of the menu that pops up for them? Quote

Sure, I'll post the updated version tomorrow sometime. Quote
MillenniumMan Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Ok, the modified and skinned Lancaster.lanc1.zip Quote
»jabjabjab Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 (edited) Looks really good, but the area around the cockpit is a bit grainy... that's all Man the next ThirdSpace client just keeps getting more promising by the post.. I am really looking forward to your next release MillMan. Edited July 25, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote
Gannon8 Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 (edited) Weasel Enjoy Also, Wings3D can't import "ms3d" files. Any chance of exporting them as something else? Edited July 26, 2009 by Gannon8 Quote
Gannon8 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) Yaaaay double post Did this while watching Willow.Redid lanc engines to make them look more like VIE. Tomorrow I'm gonna start to texture the model. I think I know why my unfolding technique wasn't working, so I'll try and fix it, make some high-res textures, then make some animations for my avatar like sama Edit: Is it just me, or does the attachment preview mess up the images pretty bad?In any case, just click on 'em Edited July 27, 2009 by Gannon8 Quote
»jabjabjab Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) Im very glad that you fixed the wings.. because that poll structure should have been there. Look at the front.. you will realize that the curved parts attached to the cockpit part curve over instead of under. Also when your done dont forget to make a shipset render of it, with rolls plz Edited July 27, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote
Gannon8 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 OK I bumped it up a bit. Doing roll will take awhile, cuz there's no script for it.Wings3D actually isn't too well known for its rendering capabilities. I'll try to make a POV-Ray script or something. Quote
Samapico Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 There is a Blender script for rolls, I believe... or did it only do the normal rotations? You can surely start from it and modify it to get rolls though Quote
Gannon8 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) No script for Wings3d* Yeah, I'll take a look at the blender script and see if I can convert it to whatever format wings3d uses. I think there was a forum post about making wings3d plugins in C so I'll have to check that out. In the meantime, I am preparing the model for texturing, like getting rid of that "virtual mirror" that the fuselage has so that everything looks symmetrical. Update: redid the wings (again) using a better technique. The old way I did it would make it hard to texture. Edited July 27, 2009 by Gannon8 Quote
»jabjabjab Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Hell I could do it manually if you want me to. Ive been in blender so much latelyit would be really easy Quote
Gannon8 Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) jabjab do you like switching your avatar every other day? =P BTW Wings3D != Blender. Unless you guys have any more suggestions, I'm gonna take a break from modeling and start fixing my zone. Edited July 28, 2009 by Gannon8 Quote
»jabjabjab Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) Hmm I dont know... should be a way rly.. or you can export it as a different model, re import it somewhere else, and then add textures or if they are already there too just render it and save the frames, and merge them. Im sure the blender community has scripted a import python script for wings3d. they did for milkshape. Edit: Can someone please upload a blender file for the lancaster? my scripts in blender for import never work... Edit2: Fixed. Edit3: Diwa could you post your model even though it isnt done? Im going to make a small video using it whenever you do Edited July 30, 2009 by jabjabjab Quote
Gannon8 Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 Noone has yet to comment on my weasel Quote
