I made a rough outline of a leviathan, sorry, I don't know how to use those 3D programs yet. :o

I was wondering if you were going to post anything. I remember a while back you said you might give a go at trying to model some ships...? It was a couple months ago :o

You should give Blender a try. I think it's free. It'll be super confusing at first :) But if you just keep playing with it, you'll get the hang of it. That is what I did. The Warbird I posted in this thread is the 6th thing I EVER modeled. I'm just surprised it came out so well :)

My suggestion is to follow tutorials. Even if they aren't related to spaceship modeling, tutorials will familiarize you with the tools and give you the skills to work in the program.

Don't listen to jabjabjab :) keep working on the details. Its comeing along :o Just keep working on them detail. God/the Devil is in the details.

Anyways, I know the higher resolution images were posted early on in this thread, and the rotations ones that show all 6 sides of the ships. But I don't know if anybody posted that simple 360 rotations from the Subspace 1.35 client. I ripped them out of the resources and compiled them into animated gifs.

Here is a link to all the source files I've been using to model my version of the Subspace ships.

That's cool that you're getting the hang of it. I would love to see any progress you might make. I don't care if you're modeling the Shark, or if you are just modeling a box. I just want to see you getting better :(

heh, im starting to get the hang of blender, still looks a bit confusing, like adding vertecs and stuff.

This might be jumping the gun a little, but I came across this when trying to find references on jet engines trying to figure out how I should finish my warbird engines.

Thought you might enjoy the read.

Dude Diwa, seriously, I can't stop playing with your warbird. It's so addictive to look at, I die just watching it tiwst and turn. It's really this great. If it was not for that continuum-vista file bug where i cant access my screenshots, I'd post em. I even use the big version sometimes. It's just so awesome. Next generation warbird. Please promise me you will continue and make new ships.

I changed my sig completely, I shouldn't have that problem anymore :(

I actually worked on the Warbird A LITTLE. I know, can you believe it...?

Probably not enough for anybody to notice a difference Though. I fixed a texture 'issue' that was bothering me for a while now. Drake7707 pointed it out a while back. I took out the 'crack' that was mirrored. It's not really a big enough update to post a picture about, but I'm going to anyways ;)

I don't know why the texture are looking 'softer' then my older renders. I'm sure it has to do with Vray or something.

Anticlimactic picture time...? Here you go.

Yeah, it looks not mirrored anymore, neat =D

I think perhaps the specular property of the texture should be a bit higher, because the ship is probably made from some kind of metal, and the phong shading looks a little too dispersed. Perhaps you can up the phong exponent a bit (i mostly use 128)?

I'm not certain if that will look better or worse without actually seeing the difference though blum.gif
