Guest Guest_Runner_* Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 so ive noticed alot of ppl been having this problem, when i try to launch continuum, it doesnt start it it keeps loading something but doesnt launch the program, and so i log off from the windows user it says 'error: couldnt start dll something' Well i can launch the continuum with Right click, run using... but this way i have to do all the first time setups again, plus it cant load maps, or anything, well ive tried practically everything i know, or seen on differend forum's, and not anything has helped yet.. so i was wondering if anyone knows better this type of problem and could help me somehow, Thanks anyway
Runner Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 Yes, well the reason why i tried to ask help from here, was that i tried pretty much everything i was capable from Tech FAQS for example, and there was nothing that helped :/
»SOS Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 There really is no easy solution. *something* is interfering with Continuum. It could be anything, unfortunately.
Guest segaszivos Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I get the same error. Whats bad about it is that it if you look at your Windows Task Manager Proccess list it shows that it keeps on loading Continuum and then it crashes over and over, multiple times in a second. My CPU usage is stuck at 100% and I can't get it lower unless I sign off Windows and log back in. I'm a very computer literate person and I've been playing Subspace on and off since 1995. Anyways, there is something on my User Account that is interfering with Continuum. I'll start naming off the things that I use my pc for. CS, CS AC (so I use hacks to review demos), mIRC, aim (old version), etc...
JoWie Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 try booting into windows safe boot, see if it will run. if so, boot back into normal, kill all your apps one by one in the task manager and see when continuum will run.
Guest Guest Posted October 7, 2006 Report Posted October 7, 2006 Its ventrilo. If I run Vent before Continuum then it somehow prevents the game from loading.
rootbear75 Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 i was gonna say reinstall continuum.. but if that works..
NBVegita Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Root has a good solution, 9 out of 10 times if there is a conflict issue with programs simply reinstalling the program will fix it.
»SOS Posted October 18, 2006 Report Posted October 18, 2006 Continuum is not an average program. I doubt reinstalling it would ever fix anything. It's worth a try, of course, but it is not something I will ever suggest, since I do not think it is of any use in this case.
NBVegita Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 well in most of the time, if a program is working, then all of a sudden stops working that means a file has been corrupted. So you can either spend your entire day (or weeks for some) trying to figure out what the one corrupted file is, or how to fix it, or just save ur profile.bak and get a new copy. And not looking at porn helps to
»SOS Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 Corrupted files? I have never in my over 10 years of computer experience had a program stop working because a file got corrupted. I'm sure it happens now and then but I consider it extremely rare. Actually, programs rarely refuse to work for me. And if they do, it is usually because they are just badly made and not compatible with something. Just like Continuum is often not compatible with security software.
NBVegita Posted October 19, 2006 Report Posted October 19, 2006 lol well then thats !@#$%^&* lucky. Windows is full of ways to corrupt it when users who do not know what they are doing use it. I average re-imaging 4-5 computers a month due to corruption in files/settings. My company has thousands of people who although we limit their capabilities still find ways to screw these things up. I average around the same number, more in the winter, of computers that I must repair system files for because they became corrupt. In my personal experience I've only had two programs corrupt on me, and they were continuum and gunbound. And after all of the tech help in the world...I had to reinstall them...and then they worked fine...like magic! reinstalling small programs like continuum can be an easy fix, and save you time. Not saying to do that in every case, or that in every case it will help. But if you have to start thinking too hard on how to fix it, just reinstall it. If it is not corruption, what is the common answer, if I may ask, for why a program that is working, without you adjusting its settings, or your computer settings, for it to stop working?
»SOS Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 To answer the last question, some other program !@#$%^&*ed something up. Or the user lied about not messing with settings
Witchie NL Posted October 20, 2006 Report Posted October 20, 2006 Corrupted files? I have never in my over 10 years of computer experience had a program stop working because a file got corrupted. I'm sure it happens now and then but I consider it extremely rare. Not even windows? With me it crashed while i didnt even instal any other programs yet went giving errors about explorer being corrupt . Reinstalled windows and it worked.
Guest Guest Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 Well I havent been able to play continuum for a long time my av app panda is the problem I think it blocks it but I'm not willing to unistall it to play and even then it still might not work. SS just wasnt made to work in winxp I suppose I'll just keep my old SS cd hidden away for life
»Maverick Posted November 1, 2006 Report Posted November 1, 2006 Guest, have you tried disabling it (on-access scanner) in the first place? You say you didn't uninstall it but you expect it not to work? Why not try it then?
