I just got done rewriting the !stat command for a new rumble plugin (not up yet). I was thinking of adding a !rank function to the plugin also. My question is, how do the players think the Kill / Deaths and Wins / Losses be weighted to come up with a good rating.

Soo add something for each win, subtract for each loss, add for better ratio, and do the same thing with kill/deaths but using different weights for each. What should be added, what should the weights be?

You kinda have to rec in rumble anyway.

It cant be based on just games won/lost because you'll get a load of people hiding to win the rumble.

Is it possible to do a mix of both?

Should also add a !rank to 2v2 bot and even in pub

Yes there has to be a mix, because anyone can team with a nub, let him suicide, vulch of his suicide, and end up with an amazing w/l ratio. But rumble is a team event. its not all about w/l. If one team has players at 25-0 and 3-10, and one team has 14-9 and 14-9 team 2 still wins. And player 1 should have sacrificed some of that pretty rec to be sure his partner stayed alive. I'm at work now but let me see if I can't make up something for ya cubs.

nvm thought of something kinda quick actually:

Every game you win = 1pt

Every game you win with pos. rec. = 2pt

Every game you lose = -1pt

Every game you lose with pos. rec. = 0pt

I think this balances out rewarding you if you play well, but also not punishing you if you play well but your partner did not.

And also don't remember if bots were this advanced, its been a while since I coded one, but if you do not finish a game I feel you should lose a point for that too. To stop the peeps with a neg rec who decide to spec at the last second so that their rank isn't effected.

There has been some concern that this system will reward moreso those who play lots of rumble supposed to those who don't. but if say:

player 1, wins 100 games with neg rec, and loses 100 games with neg rec, then he has 0 pts.

Player 2 wins 3 games with pos rec, loses none = 6pts.

already higher rank that player 1.

But also, you shouldn't award some guy for playing 10 rumbles winning all of them with a high rank. Just because you've played 10 rumbles and won them does not mean you are good at rumble. In all accuracy the ranking should start once say a player ac!@#$%^&*ulates 25 games played or something like that.

Or to help balance it out, you could run cases that you can only pick up rank if there are 4 or more teams playing. But the problem is we don't really have the steady population we used to have, so there is no way to have the ranking system be 100% accurate, because a clause like needing at least 4 teams would make it so very few people even get ranked in this day and age.

I'd just hate to see some guy who plays nothing but 2v2 rumbles with nubs all day be the #1 "ranked" rumble player. But with the current pop not much you can do about it.

1 kill on regular nubi - 1 orange point

1 kill on elite veteran - 2 banana points

5 kills in a row on TiQ (without dying) - 3 ultra multivitamin juice points

1 kill on Delic - Minus 20 overall points

Now, you might be thinking "why go for an elite veteran when I can get the same amount of points by killing an easy nubi twice".

WRONG! All wrong, so wrong. Everybody knows that 1 banana point equals 10 orange points, which means that killing an elite veteran equals killing an easy nubi 20 times.

In some cases, you get a combination of these points award.

Like the TiQ award. Hunting him to piss him off is an extremely honorable thing to do, thus the ultra multivitamin points.

BUT!!!!!!! At the same time, you will receive 1 orange point (in that case, not all cases)

Have I made myself clear? If not, tough luck.

I say we go by this point system.

Goodbye and happy new year.

To account for the people who play a lot of rumble matches, and get a higher rating, I think we should do an average based rating. Like in most professional sports, I think the rating should be based on Winning Pct.

We could also make the rating the midpoint of a players kill/death avg, and the players win/loss avg.

For example: Kill/Death- 100-50 .667

Win/Loss- 10-0 1.000

Rating- 83.35

Since the mid way point would be .8335, and rating doesnt do that sort of decimal stuff, we could just do 83.35. Ya know, the player kill/deaths are 66.7% kills, and his win/loss is 100% wins, his rating would be 83.35%. So a players rating can never be higher than 100.

the only problem with that is that if you play 2 games and win them both, with a decent rec you'd be considered the best ranked rumble player.

Other than that I think it could work smile.gif

But you would still have to have the forfeit clause in the game.

So far what I've done is this:

POINTS:

Kill/Death: (kills - deaths)/2

Win/Loss:

for 2 teams : Win: +3 Loss: -3

for 3,4 teams: win: +4 Loss: -2

for 5+ teams: win: +6 Loss: -1

then rankings will be based on the number of points for have.
