NBVegita Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 Ok so a do!@#$%^&*ent, only partially release by democrats, only the part to behoove their argument, not saying this is bad, because every side does it, says that the war in Iraq is fueling terrorism. As I do agree that our shortcomings have been a rallying point, some democrats and a few republicans have said that if we pull our troops out now it would help. I think that is the worst thing we can do. If terrorists are rallying saying that we're having such problems in Iraq, the second we pull out they will promote "See we defeated them in Iraq! We can defeat them anywhere!" I personally think, no matter how poorly the war has been fought as of now, we need to finish what we started in Iraq.

I would agree that the war in Iraq has fueled the efforts of terrorism accross the region however I disagree with the notion that pulling out of Iraq would help the situation. To pull out would leave open a huge power vacuum, a vacuum that would more likely be filled by terrorist networks then the legitimate government of Iraq.
SeVeR Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 I agree that for our own personal safety we should stay in Iraq. But then again, for the same reason we should have never gone there in the first place. Its a pity that many of us can say that now isn't it? 100,000 civilians dead, 3000 US soldiers dead, and many of us are saying "why the !@#$%^&* did we even go there?".
AstroProdigy Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 I think it's generally agreed Iraq was a mistake and the administration incompetenced their way to a terrible situation, but that pulling out now is just as stupid. However, although I disagree with setting a deadline I can see where they're coming from. I think the vast majority of Democrats do not support simply pulling all our troops out now. You should rephrase that. Some Democrats don't support a timeline while some do, but very few actually support pulling all our troops out at once now.
NBVegita Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 some democrats and a few republicans have said that if we pull our troops out now it would help. GD how specific do I have to be? Do I really have to start quoting numbers? I mean cmon Some = small amount!
AstroProdigy Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 Some means like half of them. A few means a small amount.
NBVegita Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 3. of a certain unspecified number, amount, degree, etc.: to some extent. Half means half. Some is not specifically used to dictate a large or small amounts. Its up to interpretation, like every thing else on these gd forums. And in that context some for means a small amt. So I will continue to use some as so in the correct context. Vocabulary is not just words, its how you use them. Now "I've been playing golf for some years now" would indicate a large amount. Specific enough?
AstroProdigy Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 It doesn't really matter I just thought you were trying to show a larger group of Democrats than there are willing to pull all the troops out of Iraq now. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
