Hi! I'm a new Continuum user and I tried to play it for the first time today, but the game always puts me in the spectator mode.... when I start playing, it always puts me back in the spectator mode after a second or two. It says that it does it because of "no data"... what does it mean?

Do you get a red message at the bottom from a bot, or a yellow message in the center of the screen?

when put in spec, you dont get the yellow message, you only get the green:

You have been put in spectator mode due to no data coming from server

or something like that.

If you get the yellow message, it's because you were completly disconnected from server.

So, if you get specced for no data, it's because the data packets are having a hard time getting to your computer... Which zone(s) did you try to connect to?

On the main screen, check for zones in which the PING is low.

Also, when in-game, type "?lag" and "?ping" to know your packetloss and your ping. Any packet loss above 5% or so will surely get you specced often. An average ping above 300ms might be a problem as well.

You can also try to do a TRACE to a specific zone to see where the packets are lost.

The message I get is a green one at the bottom of the screen... and it says "You have been put in spectator mode due to no data (C2S)".

The ?lag command says:

PING Current:250 ms Average:170 ms Low:120 ms High:1000 ms S2C: 0.-2% C2S 1.3%

The zone I'm trying to join is SSCX Alpha West SVS

I also have one more problem... on the Add/Updare zone list, only 5 zones are in green and I can join them, and all the other are in gray and I can't join them...

the zones in gray are zones that are not on your list. You can add these zones by double-clicking on them ; same if you want to remove zones from your list, double click on a zone it will be removed from the list

as for the lag problem, make sure no other applications are trying to access the internet ; some programs may give you some lag spikes that could be enough to make you spec

thanks for the replies smile.gif it seems there's some problem which causes lag on my internet connection in Linux... I'll try to install Continuum on Windows and check if it works well then smile.gif
