»1587200 Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Which of the big four do you prefer, as far as phone selection, customer service, dropped calls, call integrity, and network stability? I'm completely fed up with Sprint and their B.S. attempt at customer service. Get this...last january they inturrupt service to my cellphone because of an unpaid bill. So I call them up to straighten it up, pay my bill, setup automatic payment to my credit card, verify that my bill is completely paid, and all's good right? Febuary rolls around and they inturrupt my service again, saying I had missed a payment...well wtf. So I call them up again, and aparently I didn't pay my November bill or January's...mmmk, so I ask them why they didn't charge my credit card. Their responce, "What credit card?" So I give them my credit card number again, pay my bill, verify again that my bill is current, and all's good right? ... March rolls around and they inturrpt my service again saying I didn't pay for Febuary. So again I ask them why they didn't charge my credit card, they tell me it takes two billing cycles to take effect...that would have been nice to know LAST MONTH. So they read me my credit card number, well, it was wrong anyway, so I give them the correct one and pay my bill. Keep in mind, each time I contacted customer service it was around 1-2am. So today I go to make a phone call, and I get the message that they've inturrupted my service yet again. I apparently had a $190 bill for last month. Ok...so why didn't you charge the card? Well, apparently customer service has changed their hours, and I can't contact them for another 1 1/2hrs. So I pay my bill to get service restored. They tell me it can take upto 4 hours to get it turned back on, well, that was at 9:30pm, it's not 4:30 and I still can't make a phone call...7 hours, 4 hours...same thing right? So yeah, I'm looking for a new cell phone company. Cingular has a cheap Nokia phone that's pretty sweet, not to mention the Motorola L2, which isn't too shabby either. Verizon has the Chocolate, which is just a sexy phone, and T-Mobile has the Blackberry Pearl. All three of these phones I can afford, but it's been a few years since I was with Cingular, and it's been about 5 years since I was with T-Mobile. So who would you suggest?
Dr Brain Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 I have Cingular's prepaid service, and I've been reasonably content.
NBVegita Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 I have cingular, I came from mobile. Cingular is great, I have better reception, at least in my area than anyone with verizon, and minus when my phone broke I hardly ever drop calls. If you like some of their phones, go with cingular

PoLiX Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Cingulair... I was like 1 mile out in the ocean and my friend called me, and she could hear me loud and clear. !@#$%^&*, I had 3 bars even. My buddy's T-Mobile lost signal before we even left shore. Just as we got down to the ocean, it lost it... lol. Customer Service has been great. Everytime I call, no issues. The stores on the other hand are meh, so i'll stick to the phone. !@#$%^&*, my phone stopped working, and I didn't have insurance, but they still gave me $60 towards a new phone, since if I had had insurance, that's what it would have cost them or some !@#$%^&*. I forget, but yeah. Have had them for coming up on 2years now (reminds me, I need to find my new upgrade phone), was AT&T Wireless before them, and both are great, and even better combined now.
»D1st0rt Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I have had no problems with Sprint :/
ThunderJam Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 Absolutely everywhere ive been, verizon has always had better coverage then cingular and the others, everyone i know has switched from other companies to verizon. T-mobile has some sweet plans and stuff though. As for which phone...I dont really like Nokia's, but oh well. The chocolate looks sweet, but the touchpad isnt very sensitive, and it seems to me like the screen might be easy to scratch.
Bomook Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 As for which phone...I dont really like Nokia's, but oh well. The chocolate looks sweet, but the touchpad isnt very sensitive, and it seems to me like the screen might be easy to scratch. The screen actually isn't that easy to scratch, but it does easily get dirt and marks on it. Also, you can increase (or decrease) the touchpad's sensitivity. Still though, I think Verizon is overselling the Chocolate. I had to pay an additional $40 for the music essentials kit for the compatible headphones (the phone doesn't use the normal jack) and $50 for a 1 GB micro SD card (The phone itself holds 64MB for music and 64MB for miscellaneous things). I've never been with the other companies, but compared to my friends, who occasionally don't get signal when I do, I think Verizon has the best service of any of them hands down (at least around Virginia). However, Verizon disables almost all functions with Bluetooth, and makes you end up paying for a lot of small things. The phones are good, but are more expensive than the equivalents of the other companies. I'd say if you're willing to spend the money for great phones and great service, go with Verizon, otherwise another company probably offers a much better deal for your money. I just voted Verizon because it's the only provider I've ever had, and I really can't judge the other companies.
»Swift Posted September 22, 2006 Report Posted September 22, 2006 I am voting for Cingular. I was with AT&T Wireless previously and it was great. Mind you I haven't used my cell phone in almost a YEAR. When I get back it's time to take care of that get me a new phone and plan etc. etc.
»1587200 Posted September 22, 2006 Author Report Posted September 22, 2006 I went with Verizon and the Chocolate, which I got for $100 because I work for UPS. Yeah coporate discounts!
»i88gerbils Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 I liked AU and Docomo. But you don't seem to have them in the poll. There really shouldn't be any winner among these choices. American Cellphone companies are the worst.
candygirl Posted September 23, 2006 Report Posted September 23, 2006 What prov you in candy? On I love my V3
Slipped Posted September 24, 2006 Report Posted September 24, 2006 I had Cingular, and it was great until I moved. They didn't cover where I lived for a short time, so I switched to Alltel. They've been great, and very reliable.
