»Maverick Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Hey, I don't want to advertise, I just want to let you know what I discovered today. I wanted to have some albums but searching on Limewire or bittorrent is costing me too much time and hassle. So I searched for some legal alternatives but it shouldn't cost me the same amount of money as in the store since I don't want to have another cd - I want it digital. I googled and googled until I looked at allofmp3.com. It's certainly good looking (and easy to use) so I began thinking "what's the catch, what is the ripoff here?". But !@#$%^&*, let's just try it out. So I searched for an artist, Radiohead in this case and once I seen the prizes I was a bit dazzled. It was so cheap that it couldn't be real. I calculated my total for the 7 (!) albums I was about to buy. It would cost me something around $14. I can't even buy a single album in the shop here for that much money. So.. how to get money onto there. Well they aren't accepting Mastercard so that posed a problem, but it can be done through XROST so I tryed that. XROST works well but there is too much registering. I registered at XROST but then you also need to register at ClickAndBuy which XROST uses. Fortunately everything worked out quite well, it was even possible to wire transfer my money. Too bad you can only choose out of number of coupons (iCards) from XROST; $10.00, $15.00, $20.00, $30.00, $40.00, $60.00 and $100.00. If you have buyed an iCard you get two numbers which you can enter at allofmp3.com to increase your balance. I bought the albums for only +/- $25 (yea I wanted the CD quality) and I'm now downloading it (with this nice allTunes program). !@#$%^&*, if it's this easy, why download albums illegally? Anyone else have (bad?) experiences with this? or maybe I'm quite behind and everyone is already using this? lol
Dav Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 ive used it for a while now but stopped with its recent legal issues. Its being sued in the UK for being "illigal" and paypal keep taking usable payment methods away from it. Dispite this id still use it but i cant seem to pay via paypal (only way i want to) without going through 4 sites first.
»Maverick Posted September 19, 2006 Author Report Posted September 19, 2006 Crap didn't know it was illegal :/I thought I finally found something legal.
»doc flabby Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 its not illegal. It more of a legal grey area. Its legality is in question when used in counties other than russia. allofmp3 offer the service that people want which unfortunally the record companies arnt interested in providing "legal" service of the same quality I'd rather download for free though. harder to find me without credit card details
SVS Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 its not illegal. It more of a legal grey area. Its legality is in question when used in counties other than russia. allofmp3 offer the service that people want which unfortunally the record companies arnt interested in providing "legal" service of the same quality I'd rather download for free though. harder to find me without credit card details It is a legal gray area in RUSSIA which is why dispite !@#$%^&*ing and moaning from dozens of countries Russia has been unable to shut it down. It is much like how The Pirate Bay is immune because in its home country its specific actions are legal. In most western countries (EU/USA/ETC) it IS illegal. If you live in any country where it is ILLEGAL then you are not LEGALLY acquiring that property. So unless any of you happen to live in Russia or one of the few handfuls of nations that view this as legal using this site to download music is not a legal act. Just something to keep in mind. PS - doc flabbys post is similiar to mine which is why I quoted it.
»Swift Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 Been using it for awhile. And still do.
SVS Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Been using it for awhile. And still do. I guess my opinion on the site is if you are going to do something illegal, you might as well not pay anything at all.
»1587200 Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 Swift, I just noticed that your avatar looks like a tribal redition of a vagina...anyway, back on topic...I guess my opinion on the site is if you are going to do something illegal, you might as well not pay anything at all.Pretty much says it all.
»Swift Posted September 21, 2006 Report Posted September 21, 2006 I use iTunes and Alltunes. D/Ling songs is a waste of my time if they are for free b/c of the latency issues.
