Hi,

I was talking to Fat Cat the other day about the game and suggested that newbies should be given more money when they start. Fat Cat said it was a bad idea because people would make new accounts just to collect the money from then.

 

So I thought about this and...

 

1) Make accounts unable to ?give for 24 hours (usage time)

 

or

 

2) Make accounts unable to ?give if they have less than the start money

 

or

 

3) This is the best option, have other ways to make money or get staff to give out money to people they know are new/poor.

 

 

I have nearly 3k experience but my ship sucks because I can't get the money to improve it. Can't flag because I don't have a ship worth flagging in... no one knows because I can't fight with this ship and so no one wants me on their freq anyway.

 

We should either start with a maxed ship and zero money or just 100k (either given when confirmed new or right off the bat).

The point of this is so that you can earn everything yourself, it's so that everything isn't so easy, its called a challenge, not a whining place. You earn what you get, that's how people start to like you. Definately not by whining, as for your little theories, their is already ways to get around them.

It's not a challange, it's an impossibility. You can't make money from kills when everyone else is a thousand times stronger.. think Goldfish versus Shark.. which one do you think will win?

Levi, I'm sorry if you can't seem to do it, but I've seen many others in this zone that have managed to do your "impossible". Everyone is capable of doing it whether they realize it or not. It's not impossible.

It's easy enough to do when there's a reset as everyone would be equal at least for a bit... I don't totally suck, I have a useless slow ship and I have nearly 3k exp. That's not great but it's not totally crap.

 

We need to have other ways to make money.

Ok, here's a little inside peek for you, If you haven't noticed, ever since this whole big money glitch incident, I've seen people made new accounts, including myself, and we all started off with 1k money and 0 exp, like the normal person would, We managed to get full ships maxed. That was by playinig and having fun, playing the way people currently are right now, it's not impossible, and lots of people do it. Including new people.

There are lots of other ways to make money, its called flagging, and events.

 

Events are held every now and than, and flagging is a big constructive team effort that gives a lot of money when you win. Keep killing in center until you can get a good enough ship for flagging than flag, its not that hard.

You've not understood anything I've said.

 

ok.. when you and all of the other good players got their money there was a slight difference, there was NO ONE better than you around so you actually had the opportunity to get enough kills and make money.

 

Events... I've seen one event hosted in about 2 weeks. That's not enough to be a viable way to make money. If you or someone else has hosted more events then great, but they're not in my time zone and if they're not in my timezone that excludes a lot of people from playing in HS.

 

Flagging

I would like to flag.. since I came into the zone I've wanted to flag. I even have a ship that would be capable of flagging (badly, but still I can do damage to the enemy and I'm a half decent player). The problem is that as a 'new' player NO ONE wants me on their freq. What am I ment to do?

 

 

 

I like Hyperspace, I think it's a good idea. But how in the !@#$%^&* am I, or anyone else, ment to get started properly? Simply saying "kill in centre" doesn't help when there are lanc turrets with 4 vets attached floating around. Telling people to go flagging doesn't help when no one knows them because no one will allow them to flag.

 

So you tell me what I'm ment to do to start properly in this game.. I'm open to suggestions.

Ok, I'll put this in the most simple terms I can.

 

 

Kill in center until you can upgrade your ship for flagging. Turrets aren't there always, usually their only there every now and than. But there are a lot more other people other than turrets. It doesn't take long to get stuff to upgrade a ship. Only things that take long to get are Antideath, Summoner, TW pass and that's about it.

Levi, I think your main problem is that because of the time differences you aren't able to come on when the population is at its peak during the week. Because of this you aren't able to be around when the pub freqs actually flag or turret. I'd say that usually when there is a turret 75% of the time it will be on a pub freq just so they can have that extra person on it.

Levi, there is already a solution to the creating-accounts-to-give-money scam, its a reserved non-givable(only for buying) minimum.

 

I don't know about 100k, but I do support a starting sum of 10-20k. It would be enough for a decent build of one of the first 4 ships without upsetting any balances.

Fat Cat - Thanks for the constructive information, DBE could learn a lot from you.

 

 

Looks like I won't be able to play in this zone, at least not to any decent level. It's a pity really. The zone could be so much more popular, far more popular than TW if it really tried to be but it has to get more newb friendly and draw in people from all time zones in order to get a constant high population. Staff like DBE and elitest community (a few people are very 'elitest' about who they let on their freqs or even talk to) won't let that happen (as you can see from the amount of time the zone has been going and the few regular players).

DBE needs to look at it at a newbs prospective, you think its easy to earn money but for a newb its really not, they usually dont know anyone and have harder times to make money, if a player like DBE was to stop playing and come back later it would be easy to make money because you know people and can get on freqs.

Levi, you think you could come on during peak hours? like around 9:00-12:00 PM EST... that is when ppl play alot and it would be easier for you to get exp then

 

if not.... then just give it some time... eventually ull have a decent ship

Not during weekdays unfortunately, it'd be 2AM here when it's 9:00PM there. The zone needs more people from more timezones... but I don't think it'll grow very well unless there are some changes to make it easier for people to get started or at least get flagging.

If you haven't quite noticed yet, Fat Cat and myself have been hosting some games outside the box, using things around the map and items and people for games. I was told after last night by a few people, that they had lots of fun after we had hosted a bunch of events. In Pub 0 and in events.

 

I really don't see a need for another way of money to be implented, I've looked at it from a "newbie's" perspective, atm, we have lottery, (MWarrior likes to host that), Trivia (Swift Warrior likes to host), Events Arena - Racing/Turret Wars/Balling (Fat Cat/Deathboy-evil/D1st0rt/Hi-5 - host these) Events in main arena, like rabbit, I spy, Get the hidden flag, etc (Deathboy-evil/Fat Cat) host them.

 

 

Than there's flagging, where everyone is also capable of winning, and I see no reason for anyone to complain at this part, I have seen just about every person on a flagging freq.. Including Levi-Harbringer, (the one who started this post).

 

Than Center Killing, You kill someone, the more bounty you get per kill the more money you get.

 

I'm not trying to be rude, since it seems that I'm the one who's wrong of this thread, but as I can see it... There are more than enough ways to get money. And I'm sure there are other ways that I haven't listed, and I know every now and than we come up with more ideas. From what I remember before Dr brain changed everything to low exp etc, Money came like 100 or 200 per kill, I think.... and we got a bunch of exp back than. I had 1 mil exp at 1 point. (Without being a mod and millions of legit money). I saw my friends of the zone with a lot of stuff as well, everything was maxed, we all had money, I held whatever I could when I wasn't a jrmod. Ever since the reset, where Doc had changed everything to become more challenging for us, I could see a big difference. A difference where you needed to earn what you had, instead of getting exp at high amounts per kill and flag game, and high amounts of money per flag game and kills.

 

I understand everyone's perspective.... "they usually dont know anyone and have harder times to make money" As far as I remember, we've all been there at 1 point or another, and while in the zone, you start to kill and improve your skills. As you do that, you gain friends.. that bother to help you out when you need it, and you start to go on flagging freqs etc. Whining because you can't make friends and earn money yourself isn't something you should be proud about. Levi, I remember you telling me, "you misjudged me" after I gave you the 40k that was supposed to go to you, but was mistakenly given to me, and I guess I can I misjudged you as well. That makes 2 of us lol, personally, I thought you were just someone who was going to whine and cry about not being able to get money, no matter how many times I or anyone else would try to explain the number of possiblities of getting money.. to you. I guess I became wrong after that day, so I'd like to appologize for misjudging you as well.

 

Anyways, moving on.

 

As for everyone's perspective about the time zones. It is true, although... The zone is usually populated at random times of the day and night. The most common times that it becomes populated though, are from like 5pm-12am eastern time. That might help some people, and I saw levi flagging with us so I don't think that whole thing becomes a factor anymore.

goldfish if it's skilled - Hides and pushes a big !@#$%^&* rock on the sharks head =). The zone isn't COMPLETELY based on how much money you have. I started a new name and was getting a decent record with my default warbird. Mwarrior - You recieved millions for lottery =/

Only because I hosted lottery to begin with, and where did that money come from? Some from Bak's gambling bot and others I just flagged for and earned it.
