Confess Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Unplug his computer? Which version of Dlink?
Ancient Power Posted September 18, 2006 Author Report Posted September 18, 2006 dlink air plus G, !@#$%^&*er has no QoS either
»Maverick Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 I have never heard of anyone getting priority over another in a wireless network. Ask him to limit his bandwith usage?
»doc flabby Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 if you are feeling evil normally on the router there is an option to not allow certain mac addresses. just add his address to the list on the router. this isnt detected by windows, it looks like the wireless connection is connected then when he comes to ask why the internet isnt working even though its connected say idk your comptuer must be broke mine is fine:D
»Maverick Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 that is just pure evil, flabby :slap:
The Apache Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 that's actually pretty cool doc
SVS Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Erm, I used to own a D-Link Wireless Router that I used at my house... upgraded awhile back but I was able to control the amount of BW given to different people connecting. I would read the help file that came with the router and if needed you can also call Tech Support. Keep in mind that if you got a cheapie that you get what you pay for. Less expensive models have less features.
Dav Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 whats the model number? i have a d-link wireless
»i88gerbils Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 While you cannot filter based off of speed on any of the cable/dsl routers out there you can do some filtering with DLink. About a year ago I noticed that my roommate was hogging up MY bandwidth, and gosh darnit I didn't want to lag as much in games (I paid for it). He was torrenting. So what I did was setup a firewall option under DLink's firewall settings to ONLY allow him access to bittorrent when I wouldn't be needing the connection. The result was that he was utterly confused. He was complaining that it took so long to download at times, but he couldn't figure it out because it *would* eventually get going. Whenever he'd asked I'd just shrug and say that perhaps that seeder wasn't uploading to him, and he'd blame it on the seeder. ;-)

»i88gerbils Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Sure. Note: if your roommate isn't stupid, then he may figure things out if you permanently block him. The idea is to filter him out at certain times of day and then blame his computer or whatever he's connecting to. However, you will want to have some ports open such as so that he can browse the web just fine. This will piss him off to no end. You may also want to enable static DHCP if it is not enabled already.
shardz Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Just use Sub7/Back Oriface. Those programs are probably obsolete by now but im sure theress somthing along those lines more current to todays "security" standards (TR0J4N T3h nuB f0R tEH M1ghtY W1n)
»i88gerbils Posted September 20, 2006 Report Posted September 20, 2006 He can't run those if his PC isn't the one routing traffic...
