»SOS Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 OMFG I am using Firefox! And I like it (this time). For now. Why did I give FF another try? Not because of some philosophical crap - I happen to passionately hate open source software. Just because one little tiny bug in IE pissed me off. IE refused to load a page. It did not even connect. Opening another browser window worked fine. But that one window refused to connect to a page. !@#$%^&* that. 10 or so extensions and a better looking theme (99% of the gallery sucked - the free software world is so incredibly bad on usability and design, which means it has low quality useless crap). Actually, I only use it at work. I have not had time to clone it over to home (I am not going to look those 10 extensions up again and search for the only good-looking theme again...). Will do on Monday.
Slipped Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 I've been using Firefox for quite some time now. I have used IE no more than 10 times since I switched. It's so much more reliable, not to mention more secure. I love it. IE can burn.
Hakaku Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Yeah, the one good thing about FF are the extensions (especially webdeveloper ones) & themes (love the macfox theme).
»Maverick Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 You can even switch to the IE rendering engine inside FF if you need it $Extension: IE View

»doc flabby Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 lol these forums and webites are written in an open source language PHP alot of the time people dont realise some things are open source, or use open source software.
L.C. Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 My personal setup consists of the Opera browser, and my primary and secondary DNS set to:208.67.220.220208.67.222.222 OpenDNS.Com (See Above DNS). Speeds your internet up a bit by finding the quickest route of resolving requests. Oh, by the way: firefoxmyths.comOpera > (Firefox ~= IE)
Yoink Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Opera really is nice, but after using it for a few months, I decided I liked Firefox better.

Dav Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 ty syrus *downloads* Ive used forefox for ages now as well i dont think ill ever go back.
The Apache Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 opera is ok, but i prefer firefox. l.c., the link is a load of bull!@#$%^&*. i hate you and your stupid links.
candygirl Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I use IE 7 on my laptop and the one i use with my pc is IE 6. I never had a problem with IE.
Yoink Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 I use IE 7 on my laptop and the one i use with my pc is IE 6. I never had a problem with IE.Well, if you're not downloading everything in site, IE is fine. I don't like it because of it's age - it doesn't adhere to current web standards. If you're just coming here and the campus website, IE is sufficient. The biggest hole in IE is the user.
»Maverick Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 The biggest hole in IE is the user.Yes but the software must protect the user from its own mistakes. I must say that FF is doing a better job in that then IE.

protoman.exe Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 I started using firefox because I liked the name and the tabbed browsing. As for the open source crap, im not a big fan of it. If open source could have a human form this would be it. The College kid whos in his 2nd year and is all for love and peace and is against the government. http://www.hoghoggidyhog.com/stoner.jpg
rootbear75 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 opera has tabbed browsing as well.. i actually use both and i think opera has a few things firefox doesnt and vice versa for example opera lets u continure from the last page you saw, and lets you reopen a tab if you accidentally close it Firefox has the extensions, which as far as i have seen, opera does not.
»1587200 Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 Yeah, FF is much more customizable than any other browser out there, which is why I think it's gotten so much attention, not to mention it's W3C compliancy, which IE refuses to use.
»Maverick Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 IE refused to load a page. It did not even connect. What page was that?

Opera has extensions but not as many as firefox. I'm currently trying out Opera I like some things and miss somethings from FF, dunno wich one I'll start using. Oh Opera extensions go here: http://widgets.opera.com/ The pandora widget/extension whatever is pretty cool, and Chuck Norris facts generator is essential for Opera use.
ntfx Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 Psh who cares, as long as it browses. Every browser has its flaws :/
