It seems thats my version of DCME (Lastest Update) wont let me save any maps...

Says that it saves supposedly and when you open it again it has no map! Zero data?

Great looking editor btw, id use it alot if it saved my maps :(

could you explain what you exactly did ?

If i draw a bit in the new map, then save it, then close DCME and reopen it, then open the map it's still there tho.

How big is the saved lvl file ? (like if you draw a !@#$%^&* of a lot of tiles, it should be quite big)

weird....

as drake said, check the saved file properties to see its size ; if the file really has no data at all, it should be 0 bytes.

Does the tileset saves?

I actually have no clue why/how it happened...

And yes i checked the file properties to see its size and it was 0 bytes.

Even tried Save As but it still wrote no data.

I overcame the problem by extracting DCME to a new folder, i thought perhaps the filepath was too long. But the old filepath was c:\DCME

the new one is longer c:\BackupDrive\Continuum\DCME so i guess thats not it.

It now saves properly, it could have been a file compatibitly problem since i switch between DCME, CLT and SSME (on occasion) ??

If i do have this problem again i'll try getting more info.

DCME shouldn't have problems with clt or ssme.

Could it be that it was an elvl, or extra data was stored in the lvl besides the tileset and map tiles. Like ASSS regions ? Because i never tested a read/write to such lvl files

Lol i just got a new 120gig HDD blum.gif and im using like 21gig of it smile.gif

It could be it was read only but it shouldnt have been, i made a new map from scratch then saved it and closed DCME... i uploaded map and it was blank... looked at file it said 0 bytes, then opened it from DCME and it had nothin...

Tried editing another map and it did the same, when saved it saved a blank map.

Proberly be more helpful if i can recreate what i did/enviroment.

DCME creates a bak file for every map (well at least it should), if you saved more than once in the process of map making. Is there a .bak present in your directory ? If so, try renaming it to lvl and open it with DCME.

hi,

i have something similar, i saved a map after playing around with !@#$%^&*lesets (high quality ones, the ones SME cant open). i saved the map and today when i opened it it was all empty, it still had the original size tho. when i drop the !@#$%^&*leset and save again it the file is empty and has 0 bytes.

the strange thing is, i cant open the .bak file either, even tho it is 2 days older. maybe because it uses the original file's !@#$%^&*leset path? i have no clue, but my map is all empty now :/

nice editor tho (besides this problem of mine)

If you open the lvl file and edit the map (which will show you the tileset) in paint this will erase all data. But the filesize would be around 42kb's then.

this did not happen, i have the map in some weird directory and opened it with recent files while the !@#$%^&*leset bitmap was on my desktop.

however, i used an old version of DCME, like 2.67 but i dont know it anymore, it is updated now.

it happened twice to me already, with a test map too, but i cant figure out how. i am quite new to this map editing thing so i click at the weirdest buttons to figure out what they do, it might have been my own fault...

i did it again. i was trying to edit a group of tiles, bang! Error index out of range or somethin. im like !@#$%^&* all tiles gone, but when i reopened the map i was shocked by emptines. i thought well ok, big deal, lets use the backup file. but as soon as i opened it it gets a new modify date and is empty. i was like wtf.

luckily i made my own backup this time
