E64 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Requirements for zone hosting No Stolen Graphics, Settings, or Maps can be used in the zone. We don't want to see another Extreme Games or another Trench Wars, instead give us the NEXT Extreme Games or Trench Wars. No Oversized Staffs will be even considered for hosting. No we're not trying to tell you how to staff or run your zone, but we don't want to host a zone where every player is a staff member, and you have 10 different sysops we have to deal with. Bots must be stable and not cause any issues to the server. If your bot is buggy and crashes a lot, then your going to be hosting it yourself. I think this is obvious, but just making sure it is stated. Well, if you think your zone meets all the rules and standards, then contact me. You can do that three ways, email, (emulator_64) In game, (?message Emulator64) or on ssforum (reply)
»1587200 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Who are you?Server specs?Internet connection specs? What biller are you using?Who are your net admins? What zones (if any) do you currently host? Why are you offering hosting?
Confess Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Cool. It is people like us that help keep this game alive, thanks for hosting. Let me know if I can help, PS, go make a post on http://forums.minegoboom.com and when you host a zone, Ill sticky it.
L.C. Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 If you're offering billing hosting, you've already been beaten to it a few weeks ago: http://forums.minegoboom.com/viewtopic.php?t=6594 (24th of August, 2006)Public Biller established on a dedicated server on OC48 (with a connected database), offering BanG access to zone owners. If you're offering zone hosting, good luck - I hope your network is successful.
Confess Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 LC...if he wants to give out biller access, thats his duty...not yours. Aside from that, you're not the first one to give out billing to zones that are not being hosted by the same person.
»1587200 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 I still know nothing about this person, his computer or it's internet connection. Someone give me one decent reason why I would host a zone with someone I don't know.
»doc flabby Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 incidently i can host a couple of zones for dev (ie 1-10 people online max but to be honest there are much better options out there....) and i have a biller (biller not really that important if u are deving you are prob better to use LCs but its there for zones being hosted by me (its not public) if they want it)...I also host the directory server mirror ssdir.playsubspace.com which if you are a zone owner you should add to your directory server list

E64 Posted August 30, 2006 Author Report Posted August 30, 2006 With dSL you can host a zone for 10 players only and that about it.its temp
»1587200 Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 How temp is "temp", and what do you plan on upgrading to?
gameplay Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 With dSL you can host a zone for 10 players only and that about it.I managed to hold 5 people on a 56k..I also managed to hold 25 or so on DSL.. But started kinda laggin' after 20ish.
TeHsU Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 I would like to address some things here, first of all, the "OC48" biller hosting, im sorry but you must not understand how hosting works, and softlayer first of all is not on a OC48, it might be backboned to a OC48, but it itself is not on a OC48, your biller is on a 100mbit, big deal, biller doesnt use much data anyways, second, DSL? just stop, seriously.. I understand if this was back in the 90s, but please stop, you cant handle the user amount.
»Blocks Posted September 4, 2006 Report Posted September 4, 2006 How many players can I hold? o_o http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m222/legoblocks/misc/efd39296.png
