wrongful bans

. I find alot of the bans going on to be a little excessive, not my place to say when someone does something stupid, but when the bans hit home, then its a problem. 2 days ago, I was banned, for the most ridiculus reason ever. The ban is still active (netban #1984). from the start basically, i shot a cat with a blow dart (yeah sure its not right, but when this wild cat pisses on your windshield, and takes a crap on your hood, you want it dead.) so i told Jericho24. (not to complain, but he does kill rats and mice for snake food) about it..

which inturn cased me to lose my sysop position of sscc desert storm. The job isnt important but once they remove/ban me from the zone. I'm sorry, my property comes with (www.dszone.net). If you look on the Registrant of the domain, it lists myself (David DeRenard). So once i took my domain cleaned it out, and forwarded it to a Dutch Gay Magazine Companys website, apparently that was grounds for a netwide ban.

 

In my understanding, anything in my PERSONAL life (outside of ss), can not be used to netban me. I have not broken 1 rule of the SSC ban policy. Im not posting this in hope of getting my ban lifted, that dont bother me. I just feel you should all know about it.

 

To all of you who have gave me a banfree, i respect you for that, and for following decent ban guidelines.

 

 

Current ban description: "Axed sysop of DS, took down DS website and forwarded to extremely pornographic websites. Ban authorised by SVS"

 

 

And for SVS, i realize you dont like me, thats your choice. But this was ridiculus, as a bang operator you yourself should stick to a decent set of guidelines.

Net Ban Offenses

Cheating - Performing any action that an unmodified client is

incapable of performing. Developing, distributing, or promoting

cheat software. Minimal 90 day net ban for first offence.

 

Cross zone Spamming - Following a local zone ban, repeatedly

switching names to avoid ?ignore, then spamming or har!@#$%^&*ing zone

staff with cross-zone messages, after a warning to stop. Maximum 7

day net ban for first offence.

 

Har!@#$%^&*ment - Continual har!@#$%^&*ment of players, zone operators, or

server hosts in real life. Examples include contacting ISPs to shut

down zones, or researching private player real life information and

proceeding to har!@#$%^&* or stalk them in real life.

 

Security - Disrupting or attempting to disrupt the security of the

billing server, any SSC zone or server. Examples include flooding

servers or players, spreading knowledge of how to disrupt security,

unauthorized access to the billing or zone servers, stealing

passwords, impersonating SSC Zones, or distributing confidential

information about servers or players. Maximum 30 day first offence

net ban for a threat to disrupt security.

 

Exceptions - Any other net ban requires authorization from a BanG

Administrator.

 

Net bans of length exceeding 365 days require authorization from a

BanG Administrator.

 

 

 

Net BanG Op Policy

------------------

 

Netwide Banfree - Only used to banfree names inadvertently locked

out by another pilot's netban.

 

BanG Op Abuse - BanG Operaters intentionally violating net ban

policy may have their operator status removed. Minimal 30 day

operator status suspension for first offence.

 

Commenting Bans - All net bans require detailed comments or may be

subject for removal by a BanG Administrator. Comments include the

reason for the ban, possible modified ban info including the zone

the offence took place, possible references to original bans, scope

of the ban (IP, MID, Name), and any other relevant details.

 

Ban Removal - Net ban removal is restricted to the operator who

placed the ban. Improper net bans may be removed by a BanG

Administrator, who will contact the operator with reasoning why

their ban was removed.

 

Net Bang Op - Users with BanG access lvl 1 who can net ban

(typically zone sysops).

Bang Administrator - Users who administer the BanG system to enforce

Net Ban Policy.

One of the reasons for schitts network ban was threats to compromise the security of an SSC server which is clearly defined in the guidelines as being punishable by a network ban. I gave Viligante the go ahead for his ban because it was a ban with a reason obviously within the guidelines. If any of you doubt whether schitt actually did threaten DS and SSCC... how hard is it to believe that someone who would be pissed off enough to redirect the DS website to a porn site would be pissed off another to threaten the security of the server... or even pissed off enough to actually DO harm.

 

I am sorry MTN had to be abusive and get your hopes up schitt but it is a *valid* ban. MTN never should of touched it and hopefully he will refrain from doing so in the future.

It is a network ban, it is between schitt, the person who banned him (Viligante) and if he wishes to dispute the ban it will also involve a BanG admin. You don't figure in at all, there is no reason for you to know anything about the ban. Completely missed my point. He can be lying, or telling the truth. Holding back "your" side of the story would just suggest what I mentioned before (I don't feel like repeating myself), regardless of if he is telling the truth or not. Where's the LOGBUFFER of this supposed threat? That's the problem with SS/Continuum these days, it's mostly hearsay and nobody has a log. I say....without a !@#$%^&* log, NOTHING should be done when it comes to what he said/she said.
