phuzy buny Posted August 19, 2006 Report Posted August 19, 2006 The rules clearly state that there should be no swearing but even with other players trying to enforce the rule, little has been accomplished. Even mods seem to fail to enforce such a rule. Is there a way to remove such players permanently? See attached. Quote

Bomook Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 The rules clearly state that there should be no swearing but even with other players trying to enforce the rule, little has been accomplished. Even mods seem to fail to enforce such a rule.I personally don't care about cursing. I'd like to think that we're all mature, and that we can bear to just look at certain words. However, ever since the no swear rule was created, it was enforced inconsistently at best. I enforced it because a rule is a rule, but I think all mods should either enforce it regularly or not at all. There were lots of problems with some mods enforcing the rule in regard to some words, and then the violator complains about how other mods didn't care about those words. It becomes a pain to the mods who are enforcing it when others aren't doing their job. Quote
a dead fish Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 heh, you guys use credits, right? Make a new bot module, the swearing jar... Quote
Hi-5 Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 dunno why you directin to towards me wit that .?listmod crap, since i wasnt even chatting in pub...clearly shows i was afk, prob doin some homework or watchin TV iono dont care, swearing isnt allowed....but if we're not on to catch them swearing, nothing we can do about it....and i personally dont scroll up and down my chat box to see who broke the swearing rule....sorry Quote
KoTD Posted August 21, 2006 Report Posted August 21, 2006 Here's a little FYI for everyone...MAKING RULES ONLY ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO BREAK THEM.If you didn't want rules to be broken, and you didn't make a rule, it wouldn't be possible to break it, right? Banning people won't do anything, they just get a kick out of feeling pride for breaking a rule (Especially a no-cursing rule) And the obscenity blocker doesn't work. Kthxbye Quote
Dr Brain Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 That would only make sense if HS had a bigger swearing problem with the rule than other zones have without the rule. And of course we don't. Quote
OrangeeoZ Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Some other zones swears more and no one really cares. Just pretend those swear words means "Yo". So for example, SHUT THE YO UP Quote
Stoked_07 Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 i agree with kotd, the no swear rule makes me want to cuss even more, same with some of the other re!@#$%^&*ed rules in this zone. Quote
chocko_cc Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Well for some its just culture they're brought up among that its right to swear, that theres nothing wrong with it, other just swear for the sake of swearing and some swear because bad things happen (normal for anyone). Can't remember if the rule was here when i was... Quote
Fat Cat Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Yes it was chocko. I fined you plenty of times Quote
Dr Brain Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 It's been around since late 2000, when the zone wasn't even called Hyperspace. Quote

Evo3 Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 Who honestly cares about swearing any more in our modern society. And seriously phuzy buny why are you so concerned with it? You don't have better things to worry about? Do you think it's more right to just ignore things you don't like or try to press your view on obscenity on other people. Where is the line drawn, anyways, between obscene and not? I don't see a list of "banned words" like so many burned books. Maybe we should start complaining when people use the word "newb" too because that's certain offensive to some people. Quote
Dr Brain Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Being offensive and cussing are two entirely distinct things. There's no rule against making everyone hate you, you just have to do it with a civil tounge. Quote
ddaL Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Really how old are you people, all i said was !@#$%^&* not that big of a deal, i heard alot worse in the playground when i was younger. Quote
FunkmastaD Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 The point isn't the fact that we have heard these words over and over again for the longest time but that the person who is running the zone has asked for their to be no swearing in public chats and that should be a good enough reason. Only little kids should really feel that a rule encourages you to break it. Do I go out and commit crimes just because it's illegal. This is not a good enough excuse to be unable to control typing out swears...if you want to swear just yell at your monitor and do us all a favour and keep it to yourself or complain to people in your own private chats. Quote
Deathboy-evil Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 If you want to swear just yell at your monitor and do us all a favour and keep it to yourself or complain to people in your own private chats. Lmao, I can actually picture some of these people doing that.. lmao.. just the funny images that go through my mind when I see them yelling at a monitor.. lol Quote
