Guest Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 tru what port does continuum connect? Is there any program, to redirect it's connection path? i.e my problem is. Im at a public computer and i cant find out any info what is blockin the client from connecting. need help.. thnx
Mr Ekted Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 It uses different ports depending on what zone you are connecting to. If the public computer is heavily firewalled, you may be unable to play Subspace on it. http://home.maine.rr.com/user/ekted/pics/ssgc.jpg http://www.againsttcpa.com/images/AgainstTCPA-Log01Small.gif
Darkflare Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 right click on the zone name to see what port it is using, btw. vb.net> dark, why are you so cool?vb.net> MEN I LOVE THEM protoman.exe> i had sportsday at schhol a few yaers ago and i had to get out onto the filde and i was in the b-room and i took a quick piss and i crap my pants Will I choose rock, paper, or scissors? Bargeld Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 right click on the zone name to see what port it is using, btw. Actually, that would show you the port that the server is using, not continuum. He needs to know the local ports to use in order to forward them through a local intranet/router... The subgame(server) ports are irrelevant for this. Sysop - SSCX Alpha West SVS
Guest Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Yes bargeld, that's what i need to know. Since the client is getting any zone activity i belive that the port that it is using is blocked. Does anyone know of some program that could redirect continuums local traffic into another port... hmm if you get what i meen?
Guest Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Or maybe, it's the zone listing. SInce it wont find any zone-dirs. It cant find them.. so what's the port when downloading zone lists. Can i still play without them working?
Bargeld Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 unfortunately, I don't know the answer to that 8(I *think* I heard once, that continuum changes ports for security reasons, but I've never actually looked into it. Most common answer to people in similar situations as your (dormatories, university labs, libraries, etc) is that the network to which those computers are connected is specifically designed to prevent gaming, and so there is no workaround. You could try to get the network admin to setup a socks5 proxy for you or to fix this problem for you, but I assume that if you were able to get the help of a network admin, you probably wouldn't be here in the first place... Sorry for the bad news! Sysop - SSCX Alpha West SVS
MikeTheNose Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 All you need is the port to the zone to connect to that zone. But you'll need to byp!@#$%^&* the firewall to see ping times on zones or to access the directory server. - MikeTheNose- Subspace Central Network BanG Administrator-------------------------------------"I have never wavered in my commitments to this zone and I am certainly not doing so now." Guest Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 it keeps sayin connection tp server lost, and it wont let mer play, how do i get round that???
Bargeld Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 If you are able to see an active connection to the zones at the main menu, then you may simply need to change your name... make sure that it starts with a letter, not a symbol (like: )(*- etc) Sysop - SSCX Alpha West SVS
Mr Ekted Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 If the zone you are trying to connect to is on port 5000, then you need to open UDP port 5000 to play, and UDP port 5001 to see the zone pings. You also need to open UDP port 4990 to download new zones. You also need to allow ICMP to do zone trace. http://home.maine.rr.com/user/ekted/pics/ssgc.jpg http://www.againsttcpa.com/images/AgainstTCPA-Log01Small.gif
shazbot Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 gotta open port 6969 to be a 1337 mother -*BAD WORD*-er [ Edit : I suppose using port 1337 would make you...well...1337 ] All right, they're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us... they can't get away this time. - Lieutenant General Lewis B.
