Hm, if you have any suggestions on how to improve the interface of the tileset editor... it's the place to do so

(Tileset Editor should be available in next update, whenever Drake compiles and makes it available)

What I done so far:

- Load a source image, select tiles in it, drag them with right-mouse on your tileset

- You can use a "snap" to place your cursor where you want on your image, but once you start selecting, you can only select 16x16, 16x32... etc. parts, else it wouldnt fit with the tileset

- Select tiles on your tileset, drag them around your tileset with right-mouse too

What it should also do:

- Allow swapped tiles on tileset to be swapped on map after editing is done

- Of course, allow user to edit tiles themselves... need to build some uber-Paint program blum.gif

- Just thought that it would be also nice to be able to select a specific starting coordinate by entering a value in a text box

Can you do the tileset editing like the walltile editing' date=' just selecting in source , then clicking in the pictileset to set it, not with dragging with right mouse. Its much easier to do that way[/quote']

And then how do you select tiles on the tileset?

And how do you move tiles (or swap) on the tileset?

It would probably be doable with 2 tabs, like you had started to do it... but I would like to avoid that, I hate switching tabs all the time blum.gif

meh

Umm... NO! Leave that for the drawing tools. There are better things DCME needs than some nobody-will-ever-use-because-better-tools-exist-anyway drawing tool.

Do the photoshop tool options thingy already! blum.gif

tabs

Are evil.

Alot of users do not have these better tools and need to use !@#$%^&* like Paint... and editing tiles with Paint sucks blum.gif

Anyways, a quick editing is always useful, I personnaly dont want to start paint shop pro to change 2 or 3 pixels that I notice are wrong, or to simply move something 1 pixel so it fits... then save, then import tileset... on my slow computer, doing all that is a pain, being able to do that directly from DCME in a couple of seconds would be nice ; plus, it will be easy to do blum.gif

Hey Samapico I have a request! you should amke a tile that:

invisible on radar and screen, items go through it so does your ship,

thors dissipear on contact. So mostly its a thor thing but your ship doesnt warp. I guess talk it over with drake and tell me if uve got it cool thxs! If im missing anything like you alredy have it plz pm me Thxs and good luck!

uh... we can't "make" tiles, we can only use the tiles already programmed in the Continuum client. And there is no such tile, the only tile that makes thors disappear happen to warp your ship as well ; so you'd need to surround it with solid tiles to avoid the warp effect

Tile editor is almost done...

- Moving and zooming works

- Undo / Redo works

- Pencil, Eraser and Line works

most of the work is done.. just need to add each tool one at a time now...

wee... most drawing tools are working...

left to do:

- Ellipse

- Selection (not sure how I will make that yet... especially if I want it to work with undo/redo)

- Clipboard

and all the gadgets... flip.. rotate.. pixel grid.. outlined cursor..

It is possible to 'texture' the special tiles though, isn't that right? You just need an editor that supports that many tiles. :X I think you should make a replica of the current standard Tile Editor and improve the replica features / GUI.

which standard tile editor are you speaking of? there must be a couple of these existing ; I never used any though

and if by special tiles you mean the "extra" tiles, no it is not possible to change anything of them

but if by special tiles you mean the asteroids and the wormhole and such, it is kinda possible, but not via the tileset ; you have to change the over#.bm2 files and add them in a lvz ; so editing those might only be possible with DCME once the LVZ features are included, which could take a while.

The current Tile Editor supports any size of image though, so it will be easy to adapt it to create an Image Editor

What I would consider the standard tile editor. -_- Meh.

Why not? There must be an explanation and ability to change them. Is there some kind of limit that allows you to only texture 19x10 set? I would have thought that these extra tiles would be exactly as the same as the 19x10 set, except by default without any texturing, being 'black' basically (some with black being transparent).

because a tile equals 1 byte, 1 byte = 256 different values. In a tileset of 19x10 you have 192 standard tiles, and up to 255 of extra or special tiles like anti-thor and such.

There is no way more tiles values can be used.

It is impossible to texture them because they are hard-coded in the Continuum client... they get their properties (including graphics) from something we cant change

Drats. :\ I'll add that to my wishlist (although its useless and there is little chance PriitK will be here).

wootage... almost done with the selection for tile editor... it works like a charm with undo/redo, and it allows photoshop-like selections, of course smile.gif
