Spyed Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 hey Death+ has banned me from Pirates! and Hyperspace and a dev zone on SSCI for no !@#$%^&*ing reason. I play loads in Pirates AND this is most unfair... Is there anything you can do? hey Death+ has banned me from Pirates! and Hyperspace and a dev zone on SSCI for no !@#$%^&*ing reason. I play loads in Pirates AND this is most unfair... Is there anything you can do? And now I have a ban in HAlo CTF until 2033
SVS Posted July 2, 2006 Report Posted July 2, 2006 Zones may ban whoever they wish locally. There is nothing I can do about it. I would talk to the zones owner and see if he can get Death+ to lift the bans if he lacks the ability to do so himself (no level 1 BanG).
Spyed Posted July 2, 2006 Author Report Posted July 2, 2006 I've done absolutely nothing wrong and played loads in Pirates (new to SSCI). It makes no sense, why ban me? I'm a regular on SSCI...

Swift Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 There is a difference between being a network administrator administrating the bans and a zone owner doing it. So yes, there is something you can do.
SVS Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 There is a difference between being a network administrator administrating the bans and a zone owner doing it. So yes, there is something you can do. Not really.
»1587200 Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Sounds like Death+ group banned you, or you got an individual ban in each zone. If Death+ did it, then I'd ask the zones for a banfree, and if the zones did it, then I'd suggest looking for new zones to play.
Swift Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Not really because you choose to do nothing. I'd say talk to Death+ find out the reason behind it. Figure out and make a solution to remedy it from happening again. No network operator should do that just because he or she does not like someone. It's just like jumping into a zone you do not run and banning that person locally. Only time I've EVER done that was when a sysop was not around and it was the result of a cheater. Nothing more or less than that cons!@#$%^&*utes the kind of local ban seen there. If it's abuse, it's abuse. Plain and simple. If not abuse, there has to be another reason. Find out what the reason is maybe? Oh wait.. that seems to be to much trouble for some individuals to do. After all, it's let it be done and do nothing later. Instead of doing something about it. So don't give me the 'not really' bull !@#$%^&*. The SSC Ban Policy is very generic, if need be I'll revise it and evaluate how some ban's should be properly administered. There should not be a loop hole for someone to jump through just because a player is not liked. I for one think it's a power play. !@#$%^&* the bull!@#$%^&*, resolve your issues it's a friggin' game. Have a nice day.
»i88gerbils Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Additionally, if a zone or network owner refuses to tell you what you have done wrong, then another person needs to look up the ban id & comment. If there is no comment, then there is no reason for someone to be group banned.
Spyed Posted July 10, 2006 Author Report Posted July 10, 2006 Additionally, if a zone or network owner refuses to tell you what you have done wrong, then another person needs to look up the ban id & comment. If there is no comment, then there is no reason for someone to be group banned. This is exactly the problem, death+ has ignored me and others trying to contact him. I don't think my bans have even been commented.
SVS Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Network BanG administrators have no right to touch local bans FOR ANY REASON. This has already come up with you Joe and you were told not to do it again. Zones may ban whomever they wish and in this case several zones on SSCI have locally banned a player. It doesn't matter who it was that placed the bans in the zones, they are still valid local bans that are not within my jurisdiction. (?listop, do you see Death+ name on that operator list? You do? Well then it is a valid ban which is off limits to network BanG administrators) I have already told Spyed what he must do and that is talk to the zone owners. If Death+ won't let them lift the bans the zone owners always have the option to move to a different host who is less abusive. (Not that I am claiming Death+ is, I don't know why he has banned Spyed and I don't care, as I stated above, it is none of my business when zones locally ban players. This is a RULE.) SVS

Have a nice day. Swift, While i've never had reason to question your actions this post changes that. As a member of the SSCouncil who helped write the Netban policy it pisses me off that you believe you have the right so change the rules on a whim. We as a group agreed that you and others are there to handle NET bans under the guidelines that we as a group agreed were acceptable. If you want to talk to the zone owner and see if you can help resolve it thats fine. But it is up to them what they do and you have no right to touch or otherwise directly influence ANY local bans. Secondly the mere idea that you have any right what so ever to arbitrarily change SSC policy on your own is enough to make me piss on your door step. I sincerely hope this is all a misunderstanding and you were too high to realize what you were saying. But if it wasn't then you should no longer be a BanG Admin. Being a network admin at any level requires a great deal of trust from everyone in this game and the last thing we need is to have to watch over someone's shoulder because they are prone to acting on their own and making policy as they go.
Smong Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Since http://www.ssforum.net/index.php?showtopic=11133 is locked I'm writing here. As owner of SSCI-A Pirates! I can confirm Spyed was banned in each SSCI zone locally and with no ban comment. I did speak with Death+ (who made the bans) and he doesn't want me to remove Spyed's ban.
»SOS Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 I do not get it. How is it any of D+'s business who enters your zone? At first, I thought all SSCI zones just banned him... but D+ banned him without the zone owners consent? Ehh...
»Maverick Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 He banned Spyed group-wide (all SSCI zones). A host can do that since he "hosts" all of the SSCI zones. The reason why is still unknown.
Wonderer Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 While he is well within his rights to do so it is lame. At a minimum he should have commented his bans and told Spyed why he was banned. This is one of the reasons SSC netbans have strict requirements. If this were a netban with no comment it'd be gone without question. The only option the zones have is to seek alternate hosting if they feel Death+ is being abusive.
