!@#$%^&*o everyone, im having some problems lately. I have been experiencing some very high packetloss, But only C2S wise. Sometimes when i try downloading zones it gets to 3% then "Warning Dissconnected From Server". Happends in the new DS zone, and Halo. And also at Hyperspace zone its ever more weird. I get dissconnected with an error of "Warning Dissconected from to many reliable retrys" and dissconects. The weird thing about the C2S though is.. it starts off high when i enter the zone, then rapidly / normaly lowers. My friend Witchie NL dosent know if its my ISP or somthing else. He said each time i enter a zone, i should get a file called 'Packet.txt" or w/e.. but i have yet to seen it in my Continuum folder. Here Are two trace files from zones with 200+ cycles that i traced.

Hyperspace i can download, i just cant enter it sometimes.

Desert Storm i just cant download the new map, but if its downloaded, i can play with C2S at 6-12.

Other zones seem fine, just with high C2S that starts and drops down to 3 minimum.

I deleted Continuum completely, and downloaded + Installed it again, and it didn't help.

(It most likley is my ISP, but i called them up, they said theres nothing wrong. And i had this C2S for months, so if its somthing else, some help would be great, thx.)

The traces look slightly lossy all the way up to your router (first hop). Is it perhaps a wireless router that is not getting a good signal? Is there anyone else on the same network? Someone using up your bandwidth?

All in all, it sounds like your upload bandwidth is all used up. Is anyone using bittorrent or any other file sharing program? Those eat it up fast.

Nope, not using any programs or download programs. Havent for awhile now. When i load continuum up, i have nothing else running, and i dont share my computer with anyone. i have no clue whats going on.. im so clueless. Maybe im being hacked everyday and they are using my bandwidth, but i doubt it. Darn.. so it must be my ISP then? :<

PS. I dont think anyone else is on my same network, since its a cheap cable modem for my use only.

It's probably your internet service provider. Do other programs run normally, such as other games? Have you tried disconnecting completely your internet and trying again? Try contacting your ISP, sometimes they can help you over the phone.

What concerns me is that even the first hop is lossy - this means that the connection between you and your cable modem (which seems to have a builtin router) is lossy. It does not even get "on the internet" before it loses packets.

Is your cable modem equipped with wireless? Maybe someone is stealing your wireless connection.

You do have a cable modem that you just plug into, right? You do not need to "connect" anything in the computer?

On the other hand, it is possible that the 10.x IP is actually your ISPs machine. In that case, it is indeed the ISPs issue. This borders on violating networking standards but ISPs are not all that observant.

It is either something between you and the modem (if the 10.x IP is the modem) or you and the ISP (if the 10.x IP is the ISP).

I didnt say you recieved it from a zone but i said it should be in your continuum folder where continuum.exe is. I dont even know what it does blum.gif .

All other games run normally, accept Continuum. although my brower is sometimes weird. It loads some sites up but shows nothing, and i have to hit refresh to fix that.

hehe i think that is your way of doing things behind your computer. just double click your browser and give it time to load dont meanwhile start any other things or something just leave it load. i have that problem to sometimes but only comes up when i start programs. it sais "done" but it shows nothing and wont come up either. blum.gif

I am stupid when it comes to cable modems. Here are the cable stats if that means anything...

Connect Using: 3Com EtherLink XL 10/100 PCI For Complete PC

This connection uses the following items: Client for microsoft networks, file and printer sharing, QoS Packet Packet scheduler, and internet protocol (TCP/IP)

Status: Connected

Duration: 2 days 03:24:08

Speed: 100.0 Mpbs (If thats fast, i only download at 40.0 kb max per download)

Activity: Bytes Sent: 56,136,839. Bytes Recieved: 366,606,043

That does not really say anything useful blum.gif

Is your cable modem equipped with wireless? Maybe someone is stealing your wireless connection.

Basically: does it have an antenna?

If yes, maybe someone is stealing your connection and using it all up.

If no, it could be a broken cable or a broken modem, since the packetloss starts between your computer and the modem (I assume. Could be ISP fault, too, if that 10.x thing is how I said above).

I just noticed the 40KB max download... What kind of connection is this? Although you say 'cable modem', that is often used generically. Often times people say that even if they have DSL (in which case it's technically a DSL modem.) There are all kinds of connections available and service providers and it's very important to know exactly what type of service it is:

Cable (and the advertised speed of the cable service)

DSL (and the advertised speed)

ISDN (and speed)

Satellite

High-speed dialup

etc.

If you are connecting directly to the 'modem' and there is loss, I will go back to what I told people back in the dialup days: wiggle the wires, wiggle the connectors, make sure you arent running the cable near strong power lines, and make sure you dont have a 50 ft cable with half of it rolled into a loop sitting in the corner.

Well, its not 50 ft, but it is all rolled up, with all my other cords near my power outlet, and everything else on my computer thats pluged into that outlet.|

And it is cable, as my service provider only gives cable access.

At least stretch the cable out so it isn't in a big coil (this is how electromagnetic interference is created) and move it away from the power if possible.

I used to take my long cord and do 3-5 ft. lengths back and forth over each other... it's not perfect, but it's better than a ball (coil) of wire.
