Download DCME v1.2.3 here

Latest changes :

  • Added Check for updates, (if you are missing an OCX, search on google and place it in your system (win95/98/me) or system32 (nt/2000/xp) folder
  • Free rotating feature (choose any angle)
  • "Step" functionnality improved
  • Special tiles now draw correctly when on the edge of screen
  • Can now apply special tiles with line, rectangle, or ellipse tools, although it only draws a single special tile just like pencil
  • Screen now updates much faster (still no effect on selection's speed however)
  • Fixed "Save" menu icon appearing beside "Close" in the "File" menu
  • Copy/Paste now works between different maps
  • <{POST_SNAPBACK}> View detailed version history

So in theory, you shouldnt even have to visit these forums for updates anymore smile.gif Eventually, the check for updates might be done automatically (I don't think it is now) periodicly

Have fun

I just tried this for the first time, a few suggestions:

-Increase the size of the thingy you grab in the scrollbars.

-With the radar, make so if you click and drag, the main window moves/updates as you drag. Kind of like the "hand tool" but within the radar box.

-The "open dialog", add a filter for "All Files (*.*)".

-Previous tip button in the tip box.

What is the close button meant to do? It just makes the tileset disappear but I can still draw on the current map.

the scrollbar thingy's size... probably doable... but not that easy since it would require to change the max value of the scrollbar, and all coordinates are obtained with the value of the scrollbar

move with mouse on radar... shouldnt be too hard, good suggestion

all files filter, could always be useful i guess..

previous tip.. at the moment tips are shown randomly, but that could be changed i guess

Well I just got annoyed that I didn't have time to read the tip about the shortcut keys (was busy at the time, and only needed to make a small change to my map). It's not too important, I checked the tooltips and the shortcut keys are mentioned there. I also noticed the magic wand doesn't have a tooltip.

bug:

the selection dotted-line outline isn't being drawn while you're making a selection after doing the following:

Use the selection tool and make a selection area. (outline gets drawn)

Then click somewhere on the map outside of your selected area. This will deselect the area you just made, which is good and fine.

But now, when you try drawing another selection area, you won't see how big the area is until you've let go of the mouse. (outline doesn't get drawn)

As long as you don't click outside of the existing selection are when you want to deselect it, the selection outline will be drawn when you're using the tool. Even if the outline has stopped being drawn, if you start making a selection area while you already have a selection area on the map, the outline will get drawn again.
