LemonHerb Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 I have just started playing this !@#$%^&*ed game again, but I have an LCD now. I am pretty sure this is a problem with the monitors I play on and not the computer or the game. But, as I fly objects like walls seem to flicker and not display correctly, also names of other players become very hard to read.
»SOS Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 Yes, lots of LCD screens do that. They're just not built for games with fast-moving objects.
»Maverick Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 I believe I had the same problem with a set of old video drivers.Make sure you have the latest videodrivers & directx. Nonetheless, I still see the effect now and then with certain graphics (fine lines for example).
LemonHerb Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 Yeah I have the most updated drivers. On a side note, if I use the discresion client and just do the little practice offline thing the display is perfect.
LemonHerb Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 I also noticed that it doesn't do the flicker so much in windowed mode.
Agurus Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 What kind of speed does your monitor have? Most cheap LCD's speeds do that, and not only you will find issues in this game, but as well as in many others. I recommend a ViewSonic LCD, it is great, affordable, and has is 3ms fast, making it one of the fastest out in the markets today.
LemonHerb Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 I have a Dell 1905fp. It's great for movies, probably not the best for games. I assume it is just the monitor, but if it doesn't do it in windowed mode that makes it confusing
candygirl Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 I have a dell too. What do you have your refresh rate set too? I have mine set to 85Hz This seems to help me (You will find the setting in graphics controller Intel ® )
LemonHerb Posted June 20, 2006 Author Report Posted June 20, 2006 Mine only allows for 70mhz. I will try updating the drivers or somethign to see if it makes a differnce.
»SOS Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 LCDs ignore the refresh rate setting in any case, since LCDs do not "refresh". If the problem does not occur in windowed mode, try running Continuum in the same resolution as you use for Windows. If you are, it is most likely a driver problem.
