!@#$%^&*o,

I have a Worm running on my PC for about a year or so and I have done anything I can think of to make it go away but it just keeps on coming back. I consider myself an advanced user.

W32.Gael.Worm is infecting .exe files, changing a few bytes of its code so the user cannot use the infected .exe anymore.

Any anti-virus software would instantly disinfect the worm from the .exe, the problem is obviously imuune my system against that particular worm.

I have tried a couple of things including running an Anti-virus check using: AVG, BitDefender, eTrust, Symantec etc.

They all remove the worm perfectly, however, the problem is that it keeps on infecting files and i get annoying pop-ups during playtime that the Anti-virus has stopped a worm from spreading.

This is taking out the fun playing games on my PC and also takes CPU usage due to extensive Anti-virus check and disinfection.

I currently have Bitdefender9 which have Firewall and Anti-virus included (tried almost every firewall out there). => Firewall doesn't stop the worm from spreading.

I also have WinXP + SP 2 on a CD and this current OS is the one I installed from my CD so basicly I installed a fresh copy of Windows XP with the Service Pack 2 BEFORE going online and installing updates.

All of these things doesn't help making the worm go away, I need to immune my system, can anyone think of a way?

Cheers,

Bancko

The virus can spread and attack you on your LAN, as well. Indeed, I think that's about the only place it could be coming from, since XP's firewall will stop it from attacking over the Internet.
