Spyed Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Many people who enjoy cars as well as people who just like watching quality television enjoy spending an hour of their Sunday evening watching Top Gear. Top Gear is without a doubt one of the BBC’s best programs and has been running for many years, the show is always exciting throughout and has the perfect balance of ranging presenter personalities. Top Gear is really unique to most other car shows in the fact that is has a studio audience, the studio audience gives Jeremy Clarkson the perfect chance to pick out random people and show how is stereotypical views on their lifestyle and looks will effect the sort of car they Drive. The audience also make the show feel like it’s live and can make the show seem more entertaining. The three presenters all have different styles on how they present there piece in the show, this is great because it can sometimes annoy the other two and lead to a petty squabble which is always amusing. The presenters also have different opinions over cars and this is ideal for anyone doing serious research into a car; the presenters will argue strongly, constructively for their opinion over the car, what it’s good for or what it’s not so good for, this would give any potential car buyer a great insight into all aspects of the vehicle. The camera work, special effects and filming on Top gear is really well done. You most likely wouldn’t expect this with a show that appears every week and jam packed with action and features; you would think that they wouldn’t be able to produce so much quality entertainment within such a short period of time and with such deadlines, but they do successfully. Part of why I think Top Gear to be such a success is all the extras they manage to throw in, I mean in how many car shows can you see someone being chased in a car by an Apache helicopter gunship or Challenger tank? Some of the other extras are often using cars in races against public transport, dogs or something else you would never be likely to see on another car show. Top gear is most certainly setting the pace for originality and quality, when they put the two together in one jam packed Television show it makes an excellent viewing. This is one award winning show that the BBC will not be putting the brakes on! Ideally, this post will develop into a discussion about Television stations and whether government owned ones are better, however knowing this forum my post is about to get trolled!
SeVeR Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 You're right the show is great. Like when they drove off the end of an aircraft carrier or loaded cars onto a huge cannon and shot them at a target car. That's entertainment! I especially liked it when they drove sports cars through a small housing area occupied by the marines to see how many times they'd have gotten shot if they'd been escaping from an army base like in a Bond movie (yikes long sentence). Top Gear wasn't always such a great show though. I don't know how recently it changed to this hour long, 3 presenter format with a budget that allows the use of aircraft carriers but i'm certainly grateful.
Spyed Posted May 13, 2006 Author Report Posted May 13, 2006 Do you think that there is a safety hazard with Top Gear Dog being in a studio with all these cars?
Dav Posted May 14, 2006 Report Posted May 14, 2006 i watch it every week i agree fantastic program. Not only are the cars they drive simply amazing and give you many options to wish for when the time for a "mid life chrisis penis extension" comes they DO review the odd car that most people can and will buy. Add to that clarksons scence of humor, hammonds insainity and james to keep the elderly viewrs happy and you have a perfect combination. Server the new format has been running a few years now
