Brighter Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 Who helps code newer versions of Continuum? When will Continuum 0.4 come out?
Yoink Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 Realistically? No one, and never. Sorry for being such a pessimist, but it's probably true.
Witchie Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 well i do want to help but i cant code at all (just the basic stuff xD)
Samapico Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 if there is any other 'continuum' version coded, it will not be 'continuum' because it would be entirely recoded... that is only 'if' anything ever happens
Yoink Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Priitk makes far too much money off of his other projects to concern himself with SS. And I can't say I blame him.
Dav Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 well priitK is still around, he just seems to appear when all seems to implode on itself and sort things out so i wouldnt be that pessimistic. as far as new devolpments are concerned progress is slow, pr3 is around but noone seems to use it so lets hope .39 comes around soon.
Bak Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 I belive pr3 has a bug with the powerballs, not sure about the details, seek out nickisis
Witchie NL Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 Well if the current "developers" or "developer" are so inactive. I wonder why PrittK doesnt give out his src to some friends of him (which he prob will have) and let them help develop it. If he doesnt care mutch about it why not give it out .... This might sound stupid but it will help the game realy mutch.
The Apache Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 Yeah, I agree with you, but it's just not going to happen
»doc flabby Posted June 9, 2006 Report Posted June 9, 2006 reverse engineering or hacking the continuum client to do more stuff isnt impossible...I'm working on a plugin system, dont hold your breath though, it will be at least 6 months before i have anything workable to show...my low level language and windows internals knowlege is poor and this requires alot of it...but i think it is possible...im sure someone smarter than me would find it easy...
Bak Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 Reverse engineering is against the lisense agreement.
»doc flabby Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 Reverse engineering is against the lisense agreement. so?
»D1st0rt Posted June 10, 2006 Report Posted June 10, 2006 You might have some problems connecting to a server with a hacked Continuum. As to reverse engineering, it's somewhat illegal which means this thread may soon wind up locked.

I wasnt asking for help My idea i have wont involve and changes to the exe, it will be a client ONLY based change that will allow u to "plugin" things such as winamp into the game. The reverse enginerring is being done for the purposes of interoperability which "IS" legal, at least it is in my country and has been supported by a number of court cases. Think similar to xfire, only the subspace chat interface does all the work. But im thinking now this might be kinda a waste of time (gonna take at least 6 months to get it to work and im being optimistic) why not just start workin on an entirly new client with this support already inbuilt...
»D1st0rt Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 I'm pretty sure it would take more than 6 months to get a complete new client written.
»doc flabby Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 I'm pretty sure it would take more than 6 months to get a complete new client written. on my own i doubt i would ever complete a client. it would take about a year to get a alpha/early beta quality new client with a team of programmers, if someone started an open source project and a group of peope got involved it would be a more productive use of my time to help with that. Modeling it on other Os projects that are sucessfull you would obviously have to have a group of people who were the core team. You would operate a monthly rotating presidency who would have final say while he/she is president. Each member of the core team would would be responsible different sections, such as UI, graphics, sound + music, physics, anti hacking etc, these tasks would then be availablt for all the programmers to do, core team member would be responsible for code quality control etc. You would start with the basics, and build modually on them, Each month you would focus on one thing. Like for example one month would be, banners another could be basic ship settings. etc etc.
Yoink Posted June 14, 2006 Report Posted June 14, 2006 I wish Qndre were here, he could write a great client in only a few days. Shame =(.
