Guest Liddo-Kun Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 When I play a zone in Continuum, my screen freezes for 2-3 seconds every 1-3 minutes! How do I fix? Quote
»SOS Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Sounds familiar... I think I had this once... what Windows version are you using?Close all other programs before running Continuum and see if it goes away. Quote
Femme Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 I used to get this when I was running a performance analyser on the desktop. Turned it off before playing, and everything was fine. Quote
Guest Liddo-Kun Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Windows XP Home Edition thingy - but, what performance analyser? I only have McAffee Security Center and Zone Alarm do you need any other information? Quote
»SOS Posted August 16, 2003 Report Posted August 16, 2003 Well, start by shutting those two down and seeing what happens. Quote
Guest WiseCherub Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 Yes, I would love to know how to get rid of this somewhat random problem while playing Continuum. With my system, I play.. randomly around every 20-40 minutes the screen freezes for 2-3 seconds (At this time I notice my computer is accessing the hard-drive? Why? I guess loading a sound, a graphic element? Or some other application or the Windows OS doing some daily task). This is rather annoying, especially when you are doing a serious dueling match, it could get you killed. I use Windows ME at the moment, I have no other applications running in the background, no scheduled tasks.... just Continuum is loaded up and running, but it still goes on. I assume maybe this could be the OS's Virtual memory paging? Hmm..but I have like 256 Megs of Ram. If anyone knows how to get rid of this, by all means let us know. It seems this problem hasn't been fully addressed yet, I don't see anything in this thread that can help get rid of this annoyance. as of yet. Quote
Dav Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 macaffe is the problem, it comes up with the firewall thing and freezes the game, i used to have many problems with it. If you select window mode to play, the go to the macaffe window and tell it to allow it. If that doesnt work just turn off mcaffe before you play (not adviseable but will defiatly work) Quote
candygirl Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 McAffee loves using up your ram. This is why i removed it from my PC.Some ISPs have there own security services try looking in to.Zeroknowledge has every thing you need and i only pay $5 a month Zeroknowledge Quote
Dav Posted April 8, 2004 Report Posted April 8, 2004 the reason it happens id because when a proggy tries to access the internet mcaffe freezes it untill you have told it what to do. Its majer fault it is wont minimise fullscreen programs and because they are frozen its very hard to minimise or exit them to get to the mcaffe window. Quote
