Guest termy Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 i have a huge problem and i dont know how to fix it, i have played ss for 6 years and never have had problems like this... ok, i have a linksys wireless router that i am connected to and there are 3 other comps on it. i have NEVER had these problems, i do not know why i cant get into conti anymore, i was in my router settings the other day and i might ahve changed something because continuum wont play on any of the computers. the zonelist shows PINGs of around anywhere from 200 at lows to 20000 and i have seen tehm all maxed out at 60000... sometimes they hang around 4000, i do not understand, now for the interesting part, when i go to the trace feature on conti i see that the 10-13 HOPS have over 50 - % loss while the others are just fine... all of my ZONES have these high pings, ranging from sscx to sscu it doesnt matter.. i also recently installed mcafee security suite. any help would be great.....
Bargeld Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 McAfee is probably the culprit. Disable it as a test to see if it fixes it. For the Router, I suggest holding the reset button for 10 secs to reset it to default settings, then start over with your setup from scratch.
Guest termy Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 mcafee cant be the culprit because it doesnt work on any computer on my router! and i did a COMPLETE router reset and no fix...
»SOS Posted April 12, 2006 Report Posted April 12, 2006 Does IE work fine? Everything else is OK? Did you try without a router at all? Try it. If that doesn't work either, call the ISP and ask for their help, since it's not a router problem.
Guest Guest Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 everything else is ok! but now it has a ping of 190 and i have fps of 5-15 and i cant play because of that, this is making no sense to me
»SOS Posted April 13, 2006 Report Posted April 13, 2006 If you get low fps, then perhaps some other program is using up all the CPU power. Or your drivers are hosed, try updating them. Try a different resolution, different refresh rate, different advanced options.
Samapico Posted April 15, 2006 Report Posted April 15, 2006 weird thing is that it is happening on all his 3 computers... ô.o
