Yzen Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Anyone, Just finished creating tiling a map in SSME and wanted to change 3 tiles globally so I cut/paste in tileedit and saved the file. Now I went to open the map in SSME and CLE and I get an error saying the Tile Data is out of range and the map wont open. I tried to rename an old untiled version of the map tileset to try to make it work with no success. Any ideas on how I can get my map to open? Herein attached is the lvl file for you to try to open. If successful please lemme know.booboo.lvl
Dav Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 moved to tech support. Make sure the bitmap your using is the correct size and format.
ThunderJam Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Try reducing the color depth (if you changed to like 16 million colors while you were making the tiles)
Drake7707 Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 try opening with DCME and use save as SSME compatible, maybe that will help
Yzen Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 tried that too bah. i just junked it in my map graveyard. time to start on something else.
Drake7707 Posted March 18, 2006 Report Posted March 18, 2006 hmm does DCME give an error , or won't it just load the map ? or what happens ?
Yzen Posted March 18, 2006 Author Report Posted March 18, 2006 Wont load the map at all just like the other editors. I was kinda hoping that I could export the old tileset into the map (or import into the map without opening it, however you look at what i am saying). If there was a program that only did that function, I think this problem could have been solved. Anyways, Thx for the help guys. -y
Guest gimmemoney Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 You want to know what he did? He made a map with SSME and saved it. Then he opened it up in CLE. CLE has the new tiles built in and saves the data for them even though they aren't used. Now he gets the error in SSME. My advice get DCME and use it completely. SSME is limited and CLE has crap graphics and crashes alot for me.
Samapico Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 if the problem is caused by special tiles, the error message would say something like 'tile ID error' or something like thatDCME supports those extra tiles as well
Witchie NL Posted April 3, 2006 Report Posted April 3, 2006 WTF! i never had errors a few days ago i aplied some special tiles and saved it (in DCME) then i went to SSME and opened it and it just opened fine... just doesnt load the extra tiles...
Bak Posted April 8, 2006 Report Posted April 8, 2006 you could also try to open it in CLT or just open it in paint if all you need is the tileset (or import the tileset through CLT). Or post the lvl here and one of us could figure it out.

The Apache Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 If DCME gets most of it's bugs fixed (Pencil offset, being able to move bases over the boundaries (really pisses me off) - Option to remove tileset) Then I'll use it more often.
Samapico Posted April 9, 2006 Report Posted April 9, 2006 to remove tileset? what do you mean? it is possible to 'hide' it.. with the -> arrow...and ... quickfixing the 2 other points right now
