Jerky ship rotation

I'm having some trouble turning my ship in the direction I want. Often, when I try to

align my ship horizontally or vertically, I overturn. Then, when I try to correct, I

overturn again, although I press the turning keys on my keyboard for the brieft

amount of time.

Instead of going \|/ when I turn right, I go \ /, skipping the middle vertical position.

 

It seems to me that holding the turning key for about 0.1 seconds has a seemingly

random effect, sometimes turning the ship by one frame and sometimes turning it by

two frames.

 

Is there anyone else having this problem, and is there a solution?

Now that you mention it, I have that problem with my laptop k/b. I don't have a solution though.

I tried with a different keyboard (from another company) -- no change.

I also tried to run it under Linux (wine) -- no change, except the frame rate is

much lower.

 

I'm going to try with another computer. Current computer is 1.4Ghz Athlon

with GeForce2, 512 MB of RAM.

I've tried on an old computer with Win98 and an ATI card.

Same problem.

Shrug. Because of this problem I can't aim at enemies properly and thus

I can't become good.
