Guest Volts Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 When i join a game or arena the game minimizes itself and the desk top reappears if i try to restore it i can only get to the screen you get if you alt tab from the game. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to no avail. Anyone seen this before, is there a fix??????????????????????????
Bargeld Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 What is occuring: some other application is stealing the window focus. Hit cntl-alt-del and close all apps except 'explorer.' But do this one by one until you find out which one is causing your problem. Once you have discovered the thieving app, make sure that it is not running when you play.
Fluffy White Bunny Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 If you have windows xp there is an option somewhere that you can enable to prevent applications from stealing focus.
Guest Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 Bargeld thanks for the response I have looked at what else is running with alt cntrl del and continuum is the only program running. unless its windows itself???? Ill look some more. Thanks again
Yupa Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 continuum is the only program running hard to believe much
ExplodyThingy Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 Explorer had -*BAD WORD*- well better be running.
shazbot Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 When I played planetside online I have to turn off EVERYTHING, including explorer to get about 30 fps and my machine is decent (1.6 ghz p4 512mbram geforce2). :sweatdrop:
shazbot Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 no, just go to process manager, end task explorer.exe then when I wanna start it again, i ctrl+alt+del go to new task and type "explorer"
ExplodyThingy Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 Thats just plain -*BAD WORD*-ed up.
Darkflare Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 sometimes when my explorer becomes overloaded with trying to open up way too many windows i just have my desktop to look at...i kinda stare at that for a while then i restart explorer.exe

If you have lots of ram, then you have a bad windows installation.
Darkflare Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 i have 512 ddr. and i have to agree with madhaha
MikeTheNose Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Whats a good windows installation? Anything below Windows XP.
Darkflare Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Whats a good windows installation? Anything below Windows XP. minus Me...
madhaha Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Win 95 and Win 98 were really vulnerable to exploits though. Win NT... well lets not go there. Win 2000 was passable. Win XP really isn't that bad.
Bargeld Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Locked... this has gotten way off topic and I doubt if it is helping Volts at all.Volts, if you require additional !@#$%^&*istance, feel free to start a new thread with the new information you have found. Seriously guys, this is tech support, not a lounge, there are more than enough other forums to hold the undying "which version of windows is your favorite" discussion.
