SpaceBalls Posted February 10, 2006 Report Posted February 10, 2006 Hi all. I'm a noob, just got SubSpace two days ago. Looks pretty cool, and I'm learning. However, this process is greatly slowed by the utter lack of a manual. I looked everywhere. Found lots of links to an "online manual" which all turned out to be NOT "online manuals". No manual in the game directory. I can find STRATEGY GUIDES (which all say to begin by RTFM...which I cant DO)...but no MANUAL. I have to figure out what symbols mean by trial and error, and I have no idea what half the stuff on my HUD is. It is incredibly annoying. Where is this mysterious "manual" and how can I get it? Thanks in advance. P.S. Looked through all the downloads here, and searched the forums...to no avail. Am I crazy? Doesnt anyone else notice this?

I know the controls (Thanks, F1)...Ive figured out most of the symbols already the way Cancer said (I mentioned trial and error in my post) and Ive been to that site up there and several others...which are the places that mention this manual. I guess it's not really important, I just like manuals...and the REALLY basic stuff is only to be found there...not strategy sites. For instance: what are the other three pieces of info in the upper right along with my energy? The red at bottom is bounty, yes? what are the others? You know...a manual.

Hit ALT to see all of it.Right above the radar is the TIME and the COORDS of where you are. Energy bar at the top. DON'T GO RED. Left side are weapons/arsenal.Left side in order from top to bottom:BurstRepelDecoyThorBrickRocketPortalBonus (only in SSCX Chaos/League Zone SVS, i believe) Right side is guns, bullets etc.Right side in order from top to bottom:GunsBombsStealthCloakX-radarAntiwarp Top Left is the name list. S = They are in specRed Triangle = "Ticker" Red number at the top between the name list and energy bar is your frames per second. I think you have to hit esc+f for this. Your ship: It has your BANNER, then your NAME, and then your (Bounty). DEFAULT CONTROLS: Bullets = ctrl (left or right)Bombs = TabBurst = shift+deleteRepel = shift+ctrlDecoy = F5Thor = F6Brick = F4Rocket = F3Portal = shift+insertTo use the portal = insert Stealth = HomeCloak = shift+homeX-Radar = EndAntiwarp = shift+end That is your basic manual. I don't believe there is a specified MANUAL for this game because it is an online freebie game. The best manual is F1. I did this because i was bored and it is 4 in the morning. I'm not a nerd, I swear. EDIT: Oh and this tells you everything I just said and more. For the record, the above link is one of the strategy guides to which I referred...not the original manual. In fact, section 1.2 of that guide above is en!@#$%^&*led "RTFM" (Oh, if only I could...) Rincewind's strategy guide w/ JeffP's comments were included with the SubSpace box along with a keyboard cutout. Unless I'm not remembering something from my box (in storage). In any case, Rincewind's strategy guide can be said to be the manual.

Maybe even with a storyline and the annoyment of the people that you will find online, think that wouldnt make anyone want to play though. and makeing sure in the manual teaches you to not leave on Cap Locks. "Funny she dosnt look Drewish" (spaceballs good movie).
