Excel Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 This goes along with the few posts that involve continuum freezing when you press the play button. This started happening to me yesterday :-/... anywhoo... all my drivers are up to date, and directx is fine. As soon as I press the play button, continuum starts using 97+ usage and has about 3000 page faults per second... any suggestions?
»SOS Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 It has been rumored that Windows themes could cause this... try disabling them or try others.
ntfx Posted December 31, 2005 Report Posted December 31, 2005 delete the registry keys and reinstall continuum
TheMoonRat Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 This same problem has just started happening to me too after years of it being fine. Bizarre :/
Methias Posted January 5, 2006 Report Posted January 5, 2006 Omfg. Thats what just happened to me. I am so pissed ><. Deleted reg files, everything continuum on my compy, re-installed it, and it still freezes when i press play. Wtf is up with this !@#$%^&*ing bull!@#$%^&*. Sos, my lover <3, you need to make that ss v2 soon. Cause this one is becoming defective lmao HOW AM I GONNA BE AT THE EVENT ON FRIDAY IF I CANT PLAY!?!?!? I AM SO PISSED
TheMoonRat Posted January 6, 2006 Report Posted January 6, 2006 I solved this problem; but not sure if its too late for you guys. Basically; I had installed adaware and spybot to clean up a bit of spyware i'd picked up... after that continuum wouldn't work. Ever after uninstalling the programs again (and continuum), it STILL wouldn't work for some bizarre reason. So I used Windows System Restore to go back to the day before I'd installed Adaware / Spybot (and a day i KNEW Continuum worked). This worked like a charm, and I'm able to play again now Hope that works for you too
Excel Posted January 9, 2006 Author Report Posted January 9, 2006 Meh, that most likely is the problem... I recently installed Norton Systemworks/Internet Security 2k6 and half the !@#$%^&* stopped workin...but w/e... I'll deal for now. If anything, I'll go with Agurus' solution and just format my comp... it needs one of those anyway.
GoD? Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Same thing is wrong here... I can not get subspace to work... I click the icon and it brings up the hour gl!@#$%^&* and I can not end process in the task manager and when I try to reinstall it says there is a regisrty problem and when i tryed to delete it outta the registry it will not let me.. I have been playing since 97 and never had a problem like this. This is tempting me to quit this goddam game.. but its jus to !@#$%^&*ing addictive. I have not been able to play for about 2 weeks now due to this gay !@#$%^&*. I am super frustrated.. any help would be awsome.... You can get me at JAEUGA1983@hotmail.comThanks for any helps guys!
Methias Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 For those who do not have the option to restore to an earlier date like me. Or do not wish to format. Safe Mode with Networking seems to make Continuum work for me. So incase you dont know how to get there. When windows boots up, press F8 a few times till you see the options for booting up. Scroll to Safe Mode with Networking and it should work for you. :-).
»Maverick Posted January 11, 2006 Report Posted January 11, 2006 That is a very very bad tip, Methias. Totally not the solution to any problem.
Excel Posted January 13, 2006 Author Report Posted January 13, 2006 Yeah, safe mode + internet = your computer gets viruses like a crack!@#$%^&* gets diseases.
Methias Posted January 15, 2006 Report Posted January 15, 2006 !@#$%^&* i wasnt talking about using any internet browsers. I know that doing that can !@#$%^&* you up in safe mode. Im talking about going into safe mode with networking only for subspace. !@#$%^&* i know better than to actually browse web pages in safe mode.
Excel Posted January 18, 2006 Author Report Posted January 18, 2006 Web pages aren't the only way to get a virus. Most hackers go right into your computer through your printer or various other holes in your normal network. Web pages have nothing to do with it.
»SOS Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Wel... most of the time, hackers get into your computer with trojans. Websites are not the best ways to get trojand but there may be some there. Downloaded files are the most likely source. Other than that, there are some bugs in Windows that let viruses hook themselves into the computer if you have an unpatched Windows and/or no firewall. Most definitely they do not attack your printer or such things But yeah, safe mode is a good way to get crap in IE, but unless your windows is not patched, it shouldn't have any other security holes open.
Tex Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 Ok, so my freezing thing came back again. It goes on / off, but it also has weird side effects...When I run CTM, and I am in chat mode doing other things... My list, like clicking on start and stuff is invisible untill I mouse over it, but it isn't there if I close CTM. Weird...
