That first paragraph sounds like your team practiced for years worked out a bunch of stuff and got better. Then you attracted a couple really good players that had nothing to do with the previous YEARS of coming together as a team, and those couple guys were integral to your progress to the finals. Just seems like the messages conflict with each other. No. In simple words I said we were a mid-level team that figured out our problems, fixed them and was able to develop the allure necessary to attract more quality players. I also said we spent years not playing as a team, not strategizing and just doing whatever we wanted. Finally we said enough is enough and focused on those things in order to develop a better team. There's nothing conflicting there. My message is....if you're a low-to-mid level team you need to find a way to demonstrate some level of competence and potential in order to attract quality players. You can't just enter league with the mindset that no effort is needed to be successful or to attract better players.

Unfortunately this whole discussion hinges on players changing their personality/behavior. That's a losing battle. It's silly to assume that top players would be complacent with playing on a weaker team just to appease the population. An individual who is competitive at heart naturally expects a level of quality from the individuals they surround themselves with. If they end up on a team that doesn't fulfill that expectation then they will look elsewhere. A top player on a very weak team just becomes a glass cannon. It's like watching an olympic sprinter pass the baton to Xena. That's just how it is and I doubt there is much that can be done to remedy that. Human nature. Competitive people want more out of who they surround themselves with. However, instead of saying "No this won't work" I will give a suggestion. Focus on your core team and figure out what the problem is - and fix it. What's your teamwork like? What's missing from it? Does your lineups consist of the right kind of players? You can't just create a team with a ragtag crew and expect that quality players will flock to your team or you will be successful. You have to generate some level of allure because any quality player can see potential if you've properly displayed it...and if they're available there's a solid chance they will join. I don't think I have to point out how drastically things have changed for us on Critical Mass - but I will anyway. At our core most of us played on Aenima, Thor and Requiem together YEARS before we got traction. Beforehand we didn't really put a substantial amount of thought into lineups, teamwork or much of anything. I think it's safe to say - because of that we hovered around at being a mid-level team. After improving as a team and figuring out what the problems were we had the opportunity to display our teamwork capabilities on Requiem. Subsequently we formed Critical Mass and were able to attract some quality players that were an integral part of us making it to the finals. So with all that said I would sincerely suggest that you stand in front of the mirror and ask what you can do to create a better team. Don't just expect a top player to materialize and solve all your problems because it won't happen.

Yeah it definitely was a challenge format. Based on your position in the Pyramid you could challenge teams above you and you could move up in tiers. They got rid of it because it relied too much on the activity and communication of captains - so they started to create schedules. After that the only reliance on captains was to agree on playtimes - which is gone now and im not sure when that stopped. Sadly the amount of trolls has grown exponentially in our league so I wouldn't poll people on activities that occurred before 2001. In season 0 (pyramid) ONE consisted of trixter, d-tox, babamonkey, Biohazard, THX, Love You (me), Darkhosis and Shiner. I may be missing one or two - but as far as I can remember guys like Jolly Roger were strictly chaos drones. THX played jackpot a lot but did end up in a few matches.

Two things. 1.) You're saying that I should be banned for 90 days for something that isn't my fault. Got it. 2.) Legacy wasn't banned for the same thing. Ozn reacted in under a second being frozen at zero energy with a repel. The repel had NO effect on the game outcome, none. It wasn't malicious in intent. It wasn't done deliberately to mess up the game. It didn't cause anyone to use an item - it didn't cause damage to one of your squad mates. It didn't cause any of the players in the match to take more or less damage. He didn't attach and turn towards your squad, move forward, fire a Thor and then repel. I'm glad you're squad is happy to play a team that now will be hamstrung because the sysop abuses his powers and bans someone who DEFENDED HIMSELF. It's a game/bot glitch. When my ship was floating there with 0 energy I had a random spread of bullets near me left over from the fight. The rest of the team had cleared off the screen and I tried to repel the bullets away from me to escape and i was instantly spec'd right after that. I'm on a 27" with 2560x1440 and size small font so I don't have massive kill messages in my face. All I had was a second to react to what happened - which has never happened to me before.

Anyway, unless I'm wrong, the glitch where a player lives on their local client but the server calculates a death has been experienced by a multitude of players (myself included). I don't think it's possible to claim that's what happened here because there's no way he could've lived the damage that was dealt in that situation. Yep, you're wrong in this instance. As you said - it's a glitch that's occurred before. However, I don't think you can confidently claim that every damage packet I (and Legacy) received and sent was accounted for. Actually, you can't say that about anybody because nobody has a perfect connection. So to state that there's no way I could have lived is a theory and not a fact. Your opinion of how much damage was taken is hugely flawed anyway - because you were connecting from Turkey on Sunday. I'm still waiting for an Outlaws player to speak in a manner that's truly neutral and not rooted in a desire to see me get banned for something that didn't happen. Everyone else seems to get it and doesn't automatically assume that I tried to do something malicious.

From what you've heard...from Caerbannog. There was no attempt to alter the game. I had ONE FUCKING SECOND to react to some bullshit glitch in this game and my first knee-jerk reaction was to repel. When faced with ONE SECOND how would you react to something you've never seen before? You're acting as if I had all this time to sit there and weigh the pros and cons my situation. Jesus christ. The fact that a discussion about me being punished, how long I should be banned for - or that I was"altering" the game is even being mentioned is still completely asinine. I said I wasn't going to respond anymore but I still can't believe these discussion points are still being identified and mulled over. Caerbannog logged on the forums yesterday and responded to a thread about a BUNNY instead of handling this. By virtue of that it's clear to me this is personal and he is biased. You don't ban someone without informing them and the league - then pussyfoot around and rub it in someone's face by posting in a worthless topic. He knows what's going on and he's loving it.

I understand all the posts here have been made in a desire to see some logic and fairness applied in the matter - and im looking for the same thing too. I appreciate seeing that we still have people in this game who understand how ridiculous this is and how things are being handled poorly. The fact that any amount of ban time was applied and considered is still off-putting and completely wrong. At no point was I trying to do something malicious here and when I tried to log in Sunday night I was genuinely in shock that I was banned. The game code bugged in a way that ive never seen before and I had no idea what was going on, period. I wish I had a better explanation but I don't. I can't believe that this whole thing has gone this far. From what ive gathered not a single person other than Caerbannog can claim they saw me attach (out of an arena of 50) to repel or whatever. Legacy even chimed in and said he didn't see what happened but still wants to see me get banned too. His reasons are quite clouded because the only comments he would give revolved around him getting banned for something, him thinking i suck and that we got a fluke win. Sound logic. So as it stands: 1.) The bot and game client did me a disservice and screwed up. After the double-kill my ship read 0 energy and i was floating in open space in the same spot. Thinking by divine intervention I survived I subsequently repelled the 3-4 bullets that surrounded me and tried to move....then I was spec'd by the bot. I've never experienced this before, it's news to me. 2.) As seen on the video my teammates were all grouped together off my screen. I did not attach to any of them and for me it's physically impossible to do something that quickly. The thought had not even crossed my mind. 3.) Nobody in the arena saw me attach. (because I didn't) 4.) Caerbannog says he saw me attach (1 guy out of 50) So given these circumstances that were completely out of my control not only am I considered for a ban but was in fact banned for 90 days. I was not questioned about it, informed about it or even aware it was happening. This makes the whole thing so shady. Whether I am banned for this weekend's matches or 90 days it still produces the same outcome. Caerbannog's team (Outlaws) gets to remove me from contention for games 2 and 3 of the semi-finals. If im still banned for 90 days, i will surely quit the game for good. If I am banned for this weekend's matches, I will surely quit the game for good. After 17 years of playing this game I have never been banned. Basically because im not stupid enough to break the rules, especially in a semi-finals match. Now, despite the dilapidated state of league a completely conjured up reason has been put forth by a sysop who hates me and my squad and his team is currently down 1 game in the semi-finals. Awesome. I don't know what else to say. I guess this can be considered the lowest point of this league if the ban isn't removed. When questioned about the events Caerbannog claims that it doesn't matter if I attached or if the bot bugged - that I still deserve to be banned. Anyway, thanks for the support everyone. This will be my last post on the matter - and if im not unbanned it was nice knowing you all.
