But what it does represent is the past of things horrible gone by, just as the towers' are. I'd only ever come back to 17th to play, or with an outside chance of being a mod again... no more of this taking care of settings for me, lol. (Cept maybe conquest, I have ideas!) If I did come back to SS, I'd probly be in another zone rushing around in my own subarena, no one to worry about there. I've been talking to a few peeps in the zone, and I am a little sad some things haven't changed, and somethings that have changed weren't the things that needed to change. One thing about those screens, how many of those players stayed around after the league? About Feit's comment about Staff > Players, try it once, unless you're a sysop, or the owner, you're just another player, but with some *shipset or *shipreset commands. In fact, it gets rather boring using sysop powers in pub or even in sub arenas after awhile. But the *ufo here and there is fun, and playing a round of spot the ufo for a prize was cool tho, gave peeps a lil kick, but none of that has any good long term effects to those mentioned.

Amen to that... I remember coming back from 6 months away from being a mod... it was in January I think... and the zone had 17 peeps... 6 in pub, 1 flying around... Upper staff has always been concered with the welfare of pub, it's just none really formed a strong concensus on how to remedy it. - Z

I was promoted under the !@#$%^&*umtion that I knew what I was doing with settings, having just after attaining Smod from redoing conquer settings for Nurps... which were later redone very badly by myself tho... I still wanna get back and redo them, and leave pub to someone else I have no problems taking flames/heat/blame for anything I did do in pub tho, but I feel that I accomplished my goals of 1) Making the sets more fun. Newbified or not. 2) Adding something unique. I was the very very first person in a major zone to use the small radii ship, even before TW did. 3) Raising population. Argue if you might, but I did bring in new people, while retaining some vets. 4) Having a good time at it all 5) Taking my knowledge to other places. I went on after quitting 17th staff to work on my own zone, and still modded a couple of other zones too. No regrets tho - Z

At least when I was tweaking pub set, there was a steady increase of populations (Thanks to Sever and his JWL, Vile's Dueling League, and some great now-ex-staffers, as well. ) You need to consider that school time is here again, too, and general pop usually drops until about end of Sept. (I think). The only thing that happened to me was the fact that while I was attracting new players at expense of older ones, was the fact that older players already knew where else to find elements that they wanted here, that I didn't agree with at the time... - Z P.S. The idea of balance in which I attempted was to give any one ship a distinct disadvantage against another... being there was 8 ships, it would make sense to pair off ships to two. One ship against another ship, which in turn would be against yet a third, until you p!@#$%^&* all 8... now, with a jav... most agile, added with, perfect turns... no blind side... hmmm... get the drift? According to my father, an Army Vet... while you're under service, you don't pay taxes, they have specialized PDF (I think he said) stores which aren't subject to federal taxation laws. Though, I do think individual soldiers don't pay them, maybe the branches do... I'd have to check into it. - Z

Although you're right about one thing, you're missing the key factor in people moving... aka $$$$... Which I don't have, since I'm not working... since the city I live in is moving jobs here to West Virgina, South Carolina, and other states and countries that include but not limited to Mexico and Canada... Anyone wanna pay for me leaving? I know I've sucked up enough tax money alone on welfare... I don't wish to be on it, but I do enjoy eating when hungry... this state or any other governments which covers my living space have done zero to get me off of the system too... I'm living on !@#$%^&*isted payments for living, and for food, which is directly taken from taxes, state, and federal funding... do I wish to be? Nope... I'm not eligible for any technical training, and have been denied any further funding for an education. And also living in a county of only 113 thou, almost 20 thou are unemployed... that's alot of compe!@#$%^&*ion for someone without a full scale college education. Now, find me a president and a governer who can fix something in just this one state, then I'll change my mind But, in my minds eye, I would rather live in a country that puts a higher priority on educating their young. In my county alone they have cut 35 teachers out of the public system... Federal funding for these schools, and where I grew up were also cut... way to save some bucks by sacrificing children. Wb: I had it with more thrust, but more energy, and good drain on x-rad. Jav: Basically unchanged, a lil more thrust, lil less speed. Spid: I liked the cloak/stealth, with mid drain. I had it with two bursts, less powerful than old sets. Decent EMP. Lev: I made with afterburners. What a concept... and yeah, I had it with ONE thor. Terr: Wish I could see it now, but I had it with 2 reps. 8 mines tho. Weasel: I had a true cloaker, weak emp and good guns, great handling, mid speed. Lanc: 'nother I wish I could see.
