  1. I'll play whichever time needs an extra pub player. Thanks for linking this in the general Chaos forum.
  2. Yeah, I was planning on buying an iron that weekend for an iron on and because sometimes ironing clothes is a good thing. All the SS shirts my family made back in the '90s were iron ons. Now I own an ironing board and no iron. WTF
  3. FYI, lightbender was kind enough to drive a newb and myself the other night. Even after the close bomb team kills. At least Alpha's community is receptive to new players in Chaos. Another driver jumped ship on us.
  4. I'm sorry, I've already read this somewhere and given my opinion. So I didn't read this horseshit again. Oh yes, http://www.subspace.co/topic/26286-safe-zone-time-opinions/. Why is this up again? Some neutral guy's response from last time:
  5. L or XL in Texas. Actually, sorry, I thought you were fine with me making my own. I've already got one. . . I'll donate a dollar if you've got the option though.
  6. I'm fine with 45 minutes, and I should be on your side. No reason to have a ship in safe while you're at work. What I said some time ago: Posted 10 April 2012 - 04:32 PM Yikes, I log onto the forum for the first time in ages, and this is up for discussion again? First off, the sampling bias on this poll is probably horrendous. Do you think the players that log into Chaos for ten to thirty minutes for some quick fun or those that stay logged in all day are more likely to visit the forum? Even if the poll was placed in the zone and run by a bot, those frequenting the safe zones would be more likely to give input, I imagine. So, I hope no long term decisions will be made based on this poll. High bounty sitting in a nine hour safe zone serves absolutely no attraction to bounty hunt. In fact, it'd discourage me from hunting someone not in a safe zone if I thought they would take advantage of a sit-for-hours tactic. I always did enjoy the forty-five minute safe zones as they gave time to run out, and get more beer or a bite to eat while keeping your freq (although twenty to thirty minutes would have worked fine for me). Anything longer than that is ridiculous. As for Cool Dad's hour and a half vote, my experience is that your bounty seems to be saved for a couple of hours usually as long as you time out in a safe zone. Also, the difference between forty-five minute and nine hour safe zones is huge in terms of play in my opinion. In a forty-five minute safe zone, a player has to keep the game in the back of their mind or they're going to time out. If you're a player drooling over the bounty in a safe zone, you can be pretty sure that a player in a forty-five minute safe zone has an intention of playing in the next few hours, or they would have logged out to save the hassle of resetting the timer every forty-five minutes. You have no such indication from a player in a nine hour safe zone. I voted for fifteen minutes as it seems to be the only reasonable option under consideration at the moment, and although not my favorite, it really is the most balanced safe zone time of the bunch. It allows exactly what the safe zones were intended for: a bathroom break, a stretch, a talk on the phone, or a beer from the fridge. Right now, the poll seems to be twelve votes for some sort of reasonable time, thirteen votes for nine hours. Considering the likely bias, I'd say the nine hours safe zones should be nixed.
  7. I've considered it before, but always get turned off the first time I try practice again. Too few nice players, and too many dickbags.
  8. I'm listed as ^Banned when I log in and I get booted. It was worth a shot. I like to give SubSpace communities that are trying to start back up a shot, but that's intolerable. Enjoy your dead zone.
  9. And folks ask me why I loathe 4v4...
  10. Well, today's game was fun.
  11. cheesekiller, I got an incredibly similar problem with Lubuntu 13.04 and Wine 1.4.1. I've since updated to Wine 1.6. Seemed to solve the problem.
  12. So, I'm flyin' along in Chaos Pub minding my own, gettin' some greens, learning the feel of the game again, when I notice an announcement: Warzone after Premier on Sundays at 5ET. So I think, "Well, that ought to be fun!" I show up to chase two other players around for ten minutes. I might never have played Warzone when it had a daily sustainable population as I was too busy J12ing, but I think it's a lot of fun every once in a while. Has the number of people interested in playing Warzone dwindled too far to get a game going every once in a while, is the time bad, or is every week just too much? I personally would love to play once or twice a month.
