New maps all the time is a horrible idea. I'm suggesting new maps one quarter or one sixth of the time. If there is one thing SVS players resent as a whole, it's change. I dug this post from its grave because what I wanted to say had already been said, was still relevant, and hadn't come to a conclusion, so the particular map discussed above isn't currently up in the temporary Chaos zone to the best of my knowledge. Also, Axe Demento, there have been a slew of player made maps from a handful of individuals; they are just rarely up for long.

Relax, Ninespike. Everything is gonna be alright. Zone'll probably go back up tomorrow. A week down isn't going to kill Chaos. Population will probably be lower until people that don't check the forums or player zones find that the game isn't dead.

Hallu usually lets threads like this run their course before he says anything. If he says anything. But he definitely reads them all. Dropable WZ flags were a total flop last time. If you don't have basing teams, it's no fun. Turf flags sound like a blast though.

Sunday Warzone CTF has come and gone multiple times already. Don't see why it couldn't be started again.

I'm liking this guy. After all, greens, apart from elimination, is the biggest difference between 4v4 and Chaos. Bonus Booster is right, bring back the 10 bonus rabbit prize. The current flag game makes it worthless.

pixelsoft, I think I've currently got the most flag points in Omega Fire, and I'm a Chaos Public player. I found SVS players and TW players to be more optimistic about flagging than some of the EG players who were team killing for flags, flying around the center with flags when their team was trying to base, resetting flags to prevent wins, freq hopping to win, stacking private freqs, and generally making asses of themselves. Other EG players were helpful. I was also surprised to see players claiming to be from HS and DSB flagging with me as I thought those zones no longer had an active population. I don't think it's good to stereotype groups. (Unless they're SVS 4v4 players.) Not really, a tool, unless you're greening toys. It takes something on the order of 2000 greens to get a ship to max status and energy, which isn't worth it in a one-hit-kill zone. Sass, make that Macs and Linux PCs. I had a hell of a lot of trouble trying to get on until I tried the Win95 PC.

I'm one of the folks that could play the Battle Drone map all the time. In fact, I get out of sorts when it disappears for more than a reset or two. But new maps every once in a while might add excitement to the old game. Could we do a poll on the forum once every two or three months to vote for maps, like player made maps (http://www.subspace.co/topic/27369-a-little-chaos-map-feedback/) or Chaos East, and settings (http://www.subspace.co/topic/26668-svs-98-chaos/) for a reset and run the normal map the rest of the time? It might encourage players to visit the forums more often as a plus.

That was the problem! I'm on Win95 now, but it seems other folks are also getting booted for that reason. Thanks! Any particular reason for that? Just had it explained to me.

From the population graphs, it looks like Chaos, EG, and TW all went down around 4:45 AM EDT.

Captor, I logged off about 11:55 and the zone was dying off. It's likely everyone quit.

Being banned doesn't make me feel all that welcome.

I'm always game for CTF, but most folks think you need at least 30 active players for a game. And teams end up stacked so players leave before the game begins. Fix these problems and CTF would probably be possible biweekly or once a month again.

Why the fuck is Axe's zone down? He just blew his chance to get someone to check it out. Maybe even two people. PsyOps, what's the worst that could happen? Chaos switches over to ASSS and loses some players 'cause they can't get their aliases from '96?

Yeah, I was planning on buying an iron that weekend for an iron on and because sometimes ironing clothes is a good thing. All the SS shirts my family made back in the '90s were iron ons. Now I own an ironing board and no iron. WTF

FYI, lightbender was kind enough to drive a newb and myself the other night. Even after the close bomb team kills. At least Alpha's community is receptive to new players in Chaos. Another driver jumped ship on us.
