Why should I get a router? A network switch is fine if you know how to manually set IP addresses. Living in Australia does give me higher than usual latency, but if you read my OP you will see that I can play all zones fine on my desktop PC without ever getting specced. So I dont see how that can be the only problem.

Both computers connect through the same internet connection via a switch connected to a modem. Both have static IPs and I have firewalls disabled and the hyperspace ports (5005 - 5006) forwarded to the IP of the compuer I am using. Can someone help me? Is it just because my laptop isnt as good or do you think its a connection problem? I live in australia. EDIT: I attached the trace to make it easier to read. subspacetrace.txt
