  1. He's wrong, it could support a lot more than 250 depending on how good the server is. I reversed the infantry protocol and wrote a new server in C#. SOE is just putting in the bare minimum effort required to look after Infantry and it has just been stagnating. We figured with a new server that supports the latest version hopefully we could do something about it, perhaps akin to Subspace.
  2. That's generous of you, but hosting isn't really a problem. The project needs developers to help finish it.
  3. Yes, infantry has a top-down view mode too. There's a vast amount of settings that can be tweaked. Don't forget there was a Cosmic Rift spinoff which was quite akin to subspace.
  4. The key is in the extensive functionality of the infantry client, though.
  5. Do you think there would be any interest in this community in creating/hosting an infantry server?
  6. All the official content tools have been released. There already exists everything you would need to create a zone, including scripting support in the new server. All that's required is to finish the server.
  7. It's been released for quite a while. It's just a shame that nobody in the infantry community is that interested in creating a server emulator. Given the treatment that SOE have given infantry, it's quite surprising.
  8. A while ago I started reversing and coding a new infantry server in C# as a challenge. The results were promising, having a functioning v1.55 server within a week. At the moment it supports a decent amount of core functionality, as well as some nice extras such as gametype scriping and . I don't have time to code the whole thing on my own though, so I wondered if any fans of it's predecessor would be interested. I think having an effort similar to subspace with the more flexible engine of infantry would be quite exciting. The code is up on sourceforge at http://sourceforge.net/projects/infserver/ If you want to be added as a developer, just send me a message.
