  1. My point is, it is hypocritical to criticize my sig if you like the forum layout. Both are pointless wastes of screen space.
  2. Well, my point is that I only view a handful of forums here. They should all fit on the a single screen. But because of the gayness of the skins and the sheer ridiculous number of forums and forum groups, it's a pain to come here. In fact, I would be quite happy with all of ssforum in about 4 square inches on my screen. But people seem to think that lots of graphics = better. Huge swatches of color bars, lots of pretty boxes, 12 different looks for things you can click on.... It's a complete -*BAD WORD*-ization of what UI is all about. My sig is partially intended to do exactly what this forum does: take up lots of screen for no reason. If you don't like my sig, then fix the forum.

    dll

Cont needs the 039 exe, the 039 menu dll, and menures.dll. If all these files are the right versions and they are in the same folder it will work.

    dll

Reboot and re-install the full version from scratch.
  6. The real Illuminati would never use the word "holy". They are secular in the extreme.
  7. The "us vs them" at!@#$%^&*ude exists at every level of human society. In our homes, at school, at work, in our cities, states, and countries. When we refer to it in a negative way, we call it things like: racism, sexism, anti-semitism, bigotry, cliques, gangs, sexual harr!@#$%^&*ment, bullying, etc. When we refer to it in a positive way, we refer to it as: family, friends, nationalism, patriotism, capitolism, etc. It's all just a big euphemism for "us vs them".
  8. You need "port" and "port+1" for each zone and 4990 for zone update (all UDP). Trace will not work unless you allow ICMP.
  9. Hey! I'm 39 and I'm still a kid! And if I catch anyone taking my Kool-Aid from my Scooby-Doo lunch box, I'm gonna beat you up at recess!
  10. What I'd like to see is a new zone that isn't just a rehash of the basic games that SS was designed for: kill everything that moves, get the flags (moving or fixed), score goals. Make something that no one thought was possible in SS. Spend more time on gameplay than graphics.
  11. Kevin Bermeister has emailed me before. Try this address: kbermeister@bde3d.com Are you looking to buy it? Are you going to tell on us?
  12. SSC Biller Ops can reset your password for you. The best way is if you registered your account with a valid email address. Then you can just do ?lostp!@#$%^&*word from another alias, and it will email you.
  13. That is an unfortunate consequence of NAT; one player can ruin it for everyone else on the inside.
  14. Ok fair enough. You know, it seems to me that the server should be !@#$%^&*igning the encryption key. If it worked this way, the 00 01 packet would be 4 bytes, and as with your system it would be stateless.
  15. Not sure I see the point. Subgame currently performs a spoof check: c2s 00 01 ... s2c 00 05 ... <--- c2s 00 06 ... <--- s2c 00 02 ... What am I missing?
  16. If you could login with a bad password as often as you liked, you could try millions of them a day (with some software) until you got the right one.
  17. SSC has a policy of not allowing similar zones to prevent this very thing. It's not formalized or even consistently enforced, but it has been invoked in the past.
  18. Install latest sound drivers and directx. You could also try disabling "3d sounds" in options.

  20. Take a look at your font file in a bitmap editor. Looks like you are using tallfont.bm2. See if it's corrupted.
  21. Send server the ?arena command. Server replies with: 2F \0 CC CC \0 CC CC \0 CC CC ... Each arena name is null-terminated, followed by a short containing arena player count. If the count is negative, that is the arena you are in. You must use raw packet length to determine when the list has ended. Note that a malformed response from the server could result in a client/bot crash if you assume a null exists rather than correctly test for it.
  22. What about ball friction? Is it basically just deceleration (decrease in velocity per update)? Do you have that right?
  23. Have you actually ripped the VIE physics or just recreated a reasonable estimate from observation?

    TCPA

Nothing is perfect. You know there are going to be millions of people who can't use hardware, software, media they have bought or licensed because of glitches in TCPA. It could be a huge headache for the consumer, as well as technical support, and ultimately drive costs up. What people speak of as "options" above will not be options. If you want to run the Microsoft OS, you will need to enable TCPA across the board. This means non-TCPA-enabled software and hardware will not function. You will be forced to go 100% TCPA or use Linux. And with the new bill in the works, it would be illegal to use non-TCPA systems. In short, all existing computers, all existing software, all open source, and all small software companies would be history. And, if you are a country the does not adopt this law, you would be "cut off" from the US Internet and be considered a rogue state. I have no problem with vendors making options for hardware and software to protect themselves. It should be a free economy. But passing laws saying that it is illegal to use open hardware/software goes against everything I believe in. They are using viruses, worms, and trojans as buzz words to push technology that will turn the consumer into a zero-privacy sheep. I have tried getting the various media to do in-depth articles on this stuff, but no one seems interested.
