oh hell, lets add my list of grievances against hoch to the list. -He is adverse to any technological advancement. For years we weren't allowed to use MERV bots cause hoch said they were unstable. Probably the only reason we do have MERV bots now is cause no one told hoch it's a MERV bot, and he's not technical enough to figure out it's a MERV bot. Same for ASSS, DSB is probably the only sizeable zone still hosted on subgame rather than ASSS. -He is equally adverse to updating the gameplay of DSB to more modern standards. DSB has been the same old game for over 10 years now, with nothing done to improve the pub or league with novel ideas. Though truth be told, he seems to finally begin to buckle a little in this respect. -He makes any proactive staff member leave. Really there is a long long list of ex-staffers who simply quit cause they couldn't get anywhere with DSB, myself included. I left cause of the above, no asss, no merv, what can you do? But the list goes on and on, starting with ministry22, preacher22, chalk eagle many years ago, and still proceeding with the more recent additions of the_snake, abruzzi, and as icing on the cake he sacked beer hunter, his only loyal supporter. Is it any wonder then that DSB is stagnant and slowly dying cause of that? -He is simply never around. He tries to run the zone on second hand information and emails, which I highly doubt can be done, rather than just passing it on to the next person. Not that there is a next person left who would be an improvement, given that he chased all those away. He might see DSB as an responsibility, but it isn't one he appears to enjoy to the level he will do it to the best of his abilities, or even a fraction thereof. -He doesn't give a fuck about the community. According to him, if you want to do something for the zone you can join his staff. And then you still cant do anything cause he wont allow it. The community isn't used for even the basest of crowd sourcing like making maps or coming up with new gameplay formats. He's not guiding DSB anywhere, he's not letting others do that either. -He uses dirty politics against everyone who ever opposes him. Should you ever have the balls to disagree with him he'll use his influence to destroy your reputation. He consistantly uses intimidation, appeals to authority and when that wont do, ass kissing, to maintain his position as head sysop and destroy any opposition. To summarize: PLEASE HELP US GET RID OF THIS FUCKER, DSB is almost dead and if we're going to make a last ditch effort for it, we only have a chance of success if hoch is out of the way.

How about a different approach: each zone that's on ASSS adds ?go to their arenas. Like ?go EG in TW. i.e. each zone has ?go EG, ?go TW, ?go HS, etc, etc. Cut out the effort of quitting the game and logging back in again and you've effectivly made 1 continuous zone already, with many login points.

What I don't get fly swatter, is why you won't simply join up with the 'other' clone project. There is no need or use for useless schisms once DSB goes offline. We already discussed this, and your idea of 'may the best clone win' is totally counterproductive. When we arrive at that point that DSB goes offline it's suicide to fracture a community that already has gotten such a blow. Do you really want your own DSB that bad?

We, the players of SSCU Death Star Battle hereby humbly request the SubSpace Council to remove hoch as owner of SSCU Death Star Battle. Hoch has been appointed as sysop to look after the well being of DSB when loops & chy decided to move on. It has become obvious he longer has the well being of DSB at heart, when he, without consulting the community, decided to kill DSB prematurely. As such it is the obligation of every DSB player to take measures to remove hoch and appoint new leadership. Sysops are appointed to look after the well being of the community, the development of the zone and the appointment of staff. Hoch has shown no interest in upholding these obligations, and therefore, we the players appeal to SSC to remove him. Upper DSB staff consists of beer hunter, liito and angelu$. None of these players have shown any initiative to improve DSB the past year(s), or do anything but the bare minimum one might expect from a member of upper staff. Under hoch's guide the pro-active members of staff have one by one departed. This trend has been going on for years starting with staffers like mozart or wicked angel in '04/'05, and ending with the_snake past month. Now none are left. The development of DSB has been structurally obstructed by hoch. Every effort to move to ASSS and exploit the possibilities of this server software has been shot down. Every effort to modernise league has met similar deaf ears. The marginal changes to pub have been poorly implemented by upper staff's unwillingness to co-operate. Is it strange then, that the zone stagnates? Signals from the community have been long neglected by hoch's administration. By a refusal to make regular appearances on the zone and talk to players, he has more than shown his disdain for the community he hosts. An absent host is no host at all. Steps have been made to secure a new server for DSB, and this clone stands ready. Should worst come to worst, we are ready to host a new DSB once the present one is disconnected from billing. We hope it does not come to this and that hoch departs peacefully, handing over the zone in tact. For these reasons and more we request of the SubSpace Council to remove hoch as legitimate sysop of DSB, so that new leadership might take his place. We propose that the_snake will be appointed as new head sysop, so that he might appoint new sysops for league, development and moderation.
