  2. The link on the profile description to the 'Get Continuum' website is wrong - it points to www.getcontinum.com.
  3. You don't need SSDownloads's files to setup a competing website. If your new website SSDownloads works so well, you can always copy files over at a later time in a normal manner. If you can do it better, do it yourself but that doesn't mean you should try to clone the content of the original website or even trying to cripple it (even though that wasn't the intention here). It's pointless to argue the server/bandwith wasn't damaged. The server owner tells you and I'm sure he has enough knowledge to know what he's talking about.
  4. I fail to see the point of "backing up" the files of the ssdownloads.com website. Why would you do that? It's not like the website will be down soon (because of this it might just be more likely) or the files being gone tomorrow. If you want to provide a real backup, you should talk to Testtube and ask if you can mirror the website (setup a sync and modify DNS entries) as means of a backup server. If you would've done that, Testtube might already have told you that this would cost too much bandwith and strain on the current server. All you did now was provide an unhandable unmaintainable copy of files that will be outdated tomorrow.
  5. I've looked into the decompiled .class files and couldn't find a single SQL query in it. What I found out is that it used to connect to a server for login procedures and most likely for the entire game (as it was something like a MMOG from what I can google). You need to have the wormhole server running for the game to function. It seems it used to be here: http://games.centerscore.com/games/x/whserver/ Without the server there is no chance for you to revive the game.
  6. That only works for ASSS zones, right? I doubt an application is available for the iPhone to connect to (subgame) zones.
  7. If I remember and have time this evening, I can take a look. PS. Anyone mind merging this topic with the other same topic?
  8. Use "view source" if you're going to view XML in your browser
  9. If you only have .class files and no source files with the extension .java (or maybe those text files), then you won't be able to create a new database from scratch (although maybe if you reverse engineer the .class files but it wouldn't be quite readable). If you have the source files, you would be able to create a new database by checking the queries that are done in the source code. This would still be a cumbersome process and prone to errors as you're missing alot of information. The best and most efficient way is to get the original database :-) If you don't mind handing out a copy of the game, you should attach the game here so one of the java developers or me can take a look for you.
  10. It's fun (and a bit weird too as you're suddenly talking to a stranger from somewhere around the world). I figured, why not advertise for Continuum a bit Tip: Advertise for Continuum while you're at it!
  11. Don't be afraid to post it on the TW forums. I hope you will do it anyhow as critism is always good and the staff should always listen to it. If necessary I'll personally take care nothing (bad) happens to your topic. Cheers
  12. Ya, what Polix said. The program collecting the statistics is still running fine but the directory server it uses, sscentral.sscuservers.net, is down. I can reconfigure it to use subdir.org but that simply won't work because not all zones have it configured - a distorted picture of the population will be given when sscentral.sscuservers.net is down. Not to mention, subdir.org seems to be down right now and subdir.net is gone (?).
  13. Yes, those flash movies are great and genius. I've watched the first one when the second wasn't finished and was blown away by the action, soundtrack, movieplay and the underlying message. These are one of better if not best flash movies around on the internet. P.S: You should see the movies at Sambakzu's website just to support the author: http://www.sambakza.net/amalloc/tteotta_main.htm (you're linked to a frame in his website thus it doesn't have a menu).
  14. Awesome, those are all great initiatives, Polix. For now I'll spread both yours and Mom's e-mail address to the public of Trench Wars until the website is up and running (or told otherwise). Thanks for the fast responses to my question, guys.
  15. Thanks freakmonger, it certainly creates some clearance. (Although I would rather see one point of entrance for players to use if they need help with their Continuum (read: SSC) name) Anyway, can Polix's and Mom's e-mail addresses made public? If so, should an e-mail be sent to their personal e-mail address or is there a general e-mail address they both read? (I hope the latter) Can I get these e-mail addresses?
  16. The only way is to contact a billing Administrator and have it changed. See the other topic on how to do that
  17. Hi, A staff member in Trench Wars was contacted by a new BanG Op, Mom . He was told that the new way of requesting name resets is to e-mail Mom. I would like to have this confirmed because I find it weird that the whole ticket system at www.ssbase.com has been ditched and some important information hasn't been updated yet. Kind regards, Maverick
  18. From what I understand of your post is that you want zones to "share population" by giving newbies the choice of entering other, lesser populated, zones. I don't think having SSC-wide zone messages or bouncerbots will accomplish that. What I do think would (maybe) work is making a few HTML pages (anyone can do that) that contain reviews and screenshots about each and every zone in the game (not a single exception). If you can only publish these pages to the most used websites used by this community (GetContinuum.com, SSCentral.com, Trenchwars.org, DSB.com, extreme-games.net, etc etc) then those zones will become more known by the general public and will gain population in time. A clever way must be thought out of having these pages published but with the ability to modify them at one place so someone can keep working on updating them. However, some zones just won't accept publishing these pages at their website as they still believe about banning you if you mention a different zone then their own. Convincing them with the fact that their zone will also be advertised at other websites might change their mind though. This is just one idea but anything you come up with that tries to tackle this problem won't be easy to implement. Some ideas will just simply be impossible by the way people think about other zones. Changing people's minds about this will be the most daunting task.
  19. Can this topic be closed, please? There is no point discussing it here (at the very least, it can be discussed at Trench Wars's forums) and if a player wants to report abuse of Trench Wars's staff, they can send their side of the story to Complaints@TrenchWars.org .
  20. Yes, we're still having massive problems with the websites being re-infected over and over. Hopefully the host can fix the leak (if it's related to H-Sphere). I just restored sscouncil.com and the forum so it's free of any hack-crap but it's only a matter of time before it's getting infected again at this point.
  21. It's available to anyone who wants it. (It's on twcore.org but in a protected directory as other modules of the same bot need to be kept private). However, it's TWCore and populated by TWCore bots (specifically the 'pubhub' and 'pubbot' bots). I never made it to fit in another zone then Trench Wars but I don't see why it shouldn't be possible. Nonetheless, it'll never be a good replacement for the edome website as that was populated directly by the biller. Trench Wars's pubstats is populated by a number of bots that are vulnerable to downtime and errors (just figure that clients can't really estimate the correct number of points a player gets on a kill - another packet is needed to keep the score synchronized; scoreupdate). Until a replacement for edome has been put up, this is a good replacement for Trench Wars (with the bonus of creating nifty graphs about TW's population ).
  22. Are you planning on moving it to a different registrar or wasn't the registrar to blame?
  23. AceFlyer, can you make this credit footer on each page alot smaller or maybe even remove it from each page and just put it at the very bottom left? It confuses me a bit as it has the same font style and size as the rest of the website. No offence to cycad but I don't think Mervbot.com is the place for opencore and it's plugins. If cycad needs a website/space for opencore, he can get http://opencore.sshq.net or the ss-network.net equivalent.
  24. Yes exactly. I don't expect Priitk's directory server to go back up soon. The solution would be to set a different directory server (which is only a configuration setting) or get the program to ping the servers every 5 minutes instead of downloading the server list every 5 minutes (so it keeps showing stats if the directory server is unavailable). I fear that with an alternative directory server the most popular zones aren't listed (because alternative directory servers aren't configured in the zone's server.ini). I'll ask a TW sysop to see if that's true and get it changed if necessary.
