  1. Also, try installing Continuum with your firewall and virus scanner DISABLED.
  2. I don't think this problem is Zone Alarm related because it ran fine for a long time with ZA installed. The thing that caused it to stop working was when I reinstalled Windows. After I did that, Continuum wouldn't run anymore. The account I use has full administrator rights. IMO it could be something having to do with SP2, although I'm not going to bother testing it due to the security issues pre-SP2. I had enough fun removing the MSBLAST worm after installing a fresh copy of WinXP.
  3. It will actually be much mod-friendly. Mainly because you can model any ship type you want. There will also be a new particle system, plus dynamic lighting around bases. It would still maintain the same theme (space ships flying through mazes) but would have an extra dimension of view.
  4. I've noticed quite a bit of activity in regards to creating a newer, more stable client for our game. I think its time that we get started on such a concept. This new client will probably take advantage of the Bold3D engine and Direct X 9.0. Just imagine, playing your favorite top-down game, but with the added 3rd dimension -- yeah, pan down a little bit to see around the corner, or get a good look at that sexy new banner on your ship's wingtip. This is all possible with the technology that is available. I have located a 3d engine that is free that can be used. It is very stable and framerates should not be an issue. However, I think that most users should consider upgrading their PC's anyway. After all, Subspace is 10 years old. Most processors don't last that long anyway. heh. So, lets start a list of things that you would like to see in this client (if it were built). Maybe some new ships, or is there a weapon you've been spamming PriitK's PM about that you want really bad? Post it in here. Also, if anyone is interested in joining the project team, please e-mail me at rocketgib(at)future-outpost.com Laters! RocketGib
  5. I just found a cool looking 3d Engine that could be used. However it may come down to the point where subspace is no longer in 2d, but will be in full 3d. Sorta like CNL was before it vanished. http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Way/7233/ Tell me what you guys think about this engine?
  6. Continuum is doomed. I totally agree on that aspect. The whole integrity of the community has gone down the tubes over the years. I really wanted to bring back Future Outpost too. I really hope someone takes over the project, even if it means writing a new engine for the game and basing it off of the Subgame we are currently using. Maybe that should be updated too, as there are many missing features in that as well.
  7. Ever since I reinstalled Windows XP Professional with SP2, I've had nothing more than heart-ache when it comes to running Continuum. I've tried multiple versions, but for some reason the process just bounces around in the background, unable to be shut down (unless you completely log off). My suggestion to the community is that a new development team be formed to create the next version of Subspace/Continuum. Apparently PriitK doesn't care anymore because he has moved on to bigger and better things (KaZAA and Skype). When would a guy like him have time to upgrade a free project such as Continuum? With all the upgrades that Microsoft has been feeding us lately, I'm not suprised half of us are unable to run the game anymore. I've tried all the options suggested in the tech support forum to no avail. If continuum was picked up by a new development team, the game could be expanded upon further. Maybe the implementation of particle system and top-down 3d map design would be in the works. After all, Subspace is 10 years old this year, it's time for a makeover. I don't see the possibillity of a Subspace 2 from any major game publisher as it seems that space games are not as popular as FPS. I understand many users want continuum to remain compatable with their hardware configurations, but with the technology that is available, further expansion is a must! I hope PriitK considers possibly handing the project over to a new development team that can continue updating the client. I know the main reason such code has not been released in the past was due to the excessive amount of cheating. Unfortunately the client's security upgrading has been neglected and cheaters once again reign on the network. I heard that SOS had spoken to several anti-cheat program publishers about possible implementation of such software into future versions of the game, but apparently it would be quite a diffucult task to accomplish. Places like punkbuster only support games that are still in the retail market, not freeware playerbase supported games. I don't know guys, where should we go from here? I think its time that someone pick up where PriitK left off and continue upgrading this thing! There is much to be done, just check out that wishlist in this forum!
  8. SOS, I've had this occur in the past. I just reinstalled continuum and have disabled Spy Sweeper/McAfee with no luck.. The process just bounces around in the background and wont shut itself down!
  9. Nice... Do you plan on continuing work on the new biller? I think it would be quite useful to many ASSS users.
  10. I was considering starting up a ASSS server on a linux box I have that's on a dedicated connection. However I haven't seen a linux version of the biller yet. I would like to run my zone on it's own biller if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  11. How do I disable the periodic reward like when a team owns a flag, and every so often they are rewarded X points (even though they have not won yet). I think this is a turf setting, but I turned all of that off, and it still rewards ppl with 10k points every 30 secs. Thanks, Gib
  12. I have a similar problem... When I pick up the flag however, the bot goes completely offline (crashes). The bot also re-warps me at certain parts of the "player respawn rectangle". The flags are also placed several tiles from where they are supposed to be. I even followed the instructions, and it still doesnt work. Help!
  13. Why not have a "summon" command? That way the "turret base" could get teammates faster.
  14. I have a problem that is even worse, my bot simply crashes and the windows error reporter comes up. It usually happens when the flag is picked up. I also dont understand why my flags aren't spawning in the !@#$%^&*igned coordinates? They keep spawning almost in the same positions as the flags in MG, even though I've edited CTF.INI twice!!!
  15. I believe a bot could do a job such as this. It would just be a matter of adding a graphic over the targetted ship (a red crosshair or something) and make it where the player can only be targeted for a limited amount of time. If the player has "stealth" enabled, then you will not be able to lock onto their location.
