Sounds like typical anti-spyware activity to me. "Note: since you can't get rid of spyware without anti-spyware programs, you should do this to ensure best compatibility: 1) Install anti-spyware 2) Run it and clean the system 3) Uninstall anti-spyware" That's how I have to do it with SpywareDoctor every time. It's a great tool for cleaning your system, but will not allow Cont. to run or Cont. won't run with it. I've also had a problem with McAfee's log file. I could run Cont., but the CPU was constantly above 50% utilization and spiking to 100%. Had to disable McLog or something like that (can't remember the exact name). You can START, RUN, services.msc to make changes to what processes are auto started on boot up. Make notes on how it is before you make any changes... If you're really serious, I've formatted my HD to get Cont running. Install the OS only and then try it.
