  2. Lag is only an issue til we get really cracking down and on a proper server later on, when we need it. As for tiles, theres a few - but the map is nearly ALL LVZ, not much tiles at all. Is that a problem? DCME or that java map editor works nicely with this stuff. Heck, even if you can design a good map, I can tile/LVZ it myself. I just cant design worth crap.
  3. Hey people. I'm a dev guy myself as well, however, I do lack some really really good map skills.. has anyone ever seen the C&C zone me and a couple others have put together? If not, you can check it out, it IS online, and I believe it is simply called "Command & Conquer" without any server label. Anyways. What I'm asking, as posted in my news items, is for a map. I cannot seem to make a good map idea in my head, for the life of me. Being an extremely advanced kind of zone/concept, the map determines if the zone fails or strives. Im looking for the best of the best mappers to help me out in this to develop a good map. This can be side to side, but I want to try something a bit different and go top down. Each side needs its "base", which has to be semi-easy to get to, but also fairy challenging making games last a little while, as the objective is to destroy it. Of course, im trying to make this look as much as a "battle" scene as possible so any suggestions and requests for wreckage or more lvz images is always accepted. If you think you might have what it takes, please take the time to check out the zone and see generally how it works. Tileset, lvz's, and everything is already complete, all I need is a general layout. !@#$%^&*, Not even necessarily the proper tiles at this point. Thanks alot for anyone who can help!

  5. Sound FX, special sfx. Modding of sounds, compression, tweaking.. etc. Brother owns a recording studio, I use it all the time. Game settings, some gfx (not really advanced stuff).
  6. Yea, decent program. I've done alot of sound work, my bro and I share a recording studio. Audacity is defanatly handy for some tasks. For you ppl who can crack things, try cool edit pro 2.1, also a fantastic recording/mixing/editing program. or to go all out... Protools. its got it all.

  10. !@#$%^&*o everyone - I am looking for a bit of !@#$%^&*istance with some programming for our ASSS based zone. (SSM C&C: Base Wars) Heres the zone info: C&C Base Wars topic What we wish to do is complete the zone - we already have a fair amount of the base coding complete - thanks to Smong! But, we want a few more things done, and tweaks made. a few examples: - Removing the CTF game option - Add a few sounds to some of the arena msgs - Have some base structures serve a purpose, so when theyre destroyed the team loses an ability (radar gets zoomed in to 1, for example). More details if you talk to me in person, Im always in the zone. Please get back to me if anyone can be of any !@#$%^&*istance! Thanks very much!
  11. I guess we could do that - bricks - last for maybe 5 - 10 seconds... and just put in a blank brick sound, so it doesn't get annoying.

  13. I Apologize if this is in the incorrect category - please move this as you see fit. Command & Conquer: Base Wars is a "zone" within the online multiplayer game "Subspace: Continuum". (Zone name: SST C&C Base Wars) The multiplayer game itself is a space fighting game, but the Base Wars project has made it something else. You guessed it, we have turned Subspace into C&C. In a sense, this is something like the old C&C: Sole Survivor game. Heres a few bits of what were doing. (screenshot links below) Screenshot 1 (http://cnc-tech.planetcnc.gamespy.com/zone1.jpg) Screenshot 2 (http://cnc-tech.planetcnc.gamespy.com/zone2.jpg) If you notice with these images theres a few things we do that have never been done in Subspace to make a much more flexible environment, that constantly changes as the game goes on, such as: - Craters or smudges are left where players are killed - Trees, civilian buildings, rivers, and patches of tiberium are spread out through the map - A destructible environment. This one is a big factor. No zone in Subspace has ever used this approach - base wars - thus where we get our name from. Team bases are completely destructible, and have a few defenses placed around them to keep the enemy away. - Turret defences: Each team has its own unique type of defense turrets, Team 0 (GDI) has advanced guard towers, where team 1, (NOD) has Obelisks (high power laser system). The main objectives of the game is one of two things: Destroy the enemy base, or capture the flag. To do these fights, players are given an arsenal of different, unique weapons such as: - Hum-vee - MLRS (rocket launcher) - Medium Tank - Small tank - APC (Armored personnel carrier) - Dune buggy - Flame tank - Artillery This is one of the few zones that seem to almost "overdo it" with the immense amount of graphics we use, and simply how unique our style of gameplay is.
