well maybe you just need to repair the mbr on the drive... i think the last program i used was called par!@#$%^&*ion table doctor, it works really well.. worst comes to worst use a program called Easy Recovery and do an advanced recovery, if that doesn't grab them, i dont know what will. use torrents for those proggies

yes the 400 watts is needed if they ask for it in requirements, *AS WELL* a lot of PCIe cards require a 6 pin power input! you need to check for that cause if they need one, you're gonna need a new power supply as well!

just adding to mav's post: this doesn't work for ctm, but if you want a static ip to connect with let's say remote desktop, there's cool free app called Hamachi (www.hamachi.cc) that you would install on the pc you wnat to connect to, set up a 'group' and then install hamachi on any other pc, connect to the group (by entering its ip/name and password) and then you'll have a direct connection. hamachi runs in the background and isn't intrusive.

sounds to me like you may have a faulty HDD. i recommend running a diagnostics utility. If you can find out who makes your hard drive (if you can't find it easily on the net and you aren't willing to open your laptop, post your laptop brand and model number here and i'll see if i can help out), go to the manufacturer's site and see if they have diag tools. if not you can always use SeaTools from seagate, it works on other hard drives as well http://www.seagate.com/support/seatools/ hope it helps

ohhh driver updates, of course! lol another prob: soundmax drivers act really funky. i have an asus p5b-deluxe, the vista 32 bit beta drivers off their site work to an extent. they allow 2 channel audio, but in 5.1 there are still only 2 channels. I had to find a different driver off some random site for AD1988_VISTA_61016030 which then worked fine when i tested the 5.1. a big bug: when you turn off UAC (user account control, those annoying 'Allow' messages) and try to install adobe reader 8, it will give u an error saying your temp folder is full or that you can't write to it. i looked online and it seems to be a known issue, you have to leave the error message up, browse to your temp folder and grab the setup files from there, move them to another location and run. sooooo many problemsssss vistaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaa oh and even with the soundmax drivers, the sound isn't all that hot, you'd think by now companies would offer a little more then beta drivers.

nfsmw2 demo: doesnt work, graphics all messed up. i dont know if its the game or my vid drivers. im using catalyst so i'm !@#$%^&*uming its not that, but i have yet to try other games.

running home premium AV: nod32 works fine anti spyware: spybot works well, and it works even better with the vista 1.5 patch which is available on the spybot site when u click news.
